"The Longest Shortcomings"

Undbiased understanding,

Of the lectured few.

One man less demanding,

Of what is tried and true.

It's never easy to win,

Losing seems our main course.

We can't even begin,

Screaming until we're hoarse.

Successful endeavors,

Of the rich and the few.

Kill humanity's levers,

In our strange human brew.

Honesty's to blame,

It disappeared in time.

Now history's the same,

Mankind chasing a dime.

No more reason to the rhyme,

No more tired chants unhearing.

Millions live beneath our grime,

Billions give in to the fearing.

My heart bleeds for others,

So much it hurts to think.

Fathers, sons, mothers, brothers,

We've all been pushed to the brink.

We've all been forced not to think.

To ignore what's in front of us.

To not connect the links.

To take that mental bus,

To catch the ship that sinks.

This world has ascended,

To a wholly new plateau.

But our humanity ended,

In that fabled long ago.

Trying to mend the seam,

That's torn our conscience asunder.

I wouldn't know what it means,

Even if I see our blunders.

This higher state of being,

The nirvana of the soul.

I wonder if it's truly seeing?

If one can rise above the whole?

If one can see the dice rolls,

Hidden just behind the scenes.

If one can see our lives sold,

To someone else's king.

Underneath our guided exterior,

We want all this world offers.

But if you're deemed inferior,

You don't get your ephemeral coffer.

I can't see the light,

At the end of our tunnel.

We need an escape hatch,

A way out of this funnel.

Need a new batch,

Of spiritual might.

A new generation,

To take up the fight.

To get us to our landing,

Without crashing the flight.
