A selfless man,
In a selfish time.
Don't know if I can,
Keep up this climb.
It's a wall of serving,
Oneself again.
Wholly unnerving,
Behind a friendly grin.
Why can't we help each other,
And be all we can be?
Instead of I for another,
We're chasing down our glee.
There's so much suffering,
On this spinning rock.
Our own senses shuffling,
As we keep ourselves in stock.
Don't care about the child,
That has no food for days.
A world away makes it mild,
Our serenity’s not delayed.
We take what we can,
But what do we give?
Another used up man,
With no will to live.
How did we get this way?
When did we stop caring?
Everybody has to pay,
For our selfish lies a-glaring.
Peace will never come,
If we think about ourselves.
The world will be dead and glum,
And we can blame it...
On ourselves.
