Waves of heat,
Beneath my feet.
An icy smile,
So discreet.
Cast a stone,
As I moan,
Eat my pride,
As I stand prone.
Take my heart,
Before it starts,
To beat again,
And falls apart.
Smell my fear,
As you come near,
I can't abide,
Your loving sneer.
See my inner fight,
To justify the light,
To see my world change,
And burst into new heights.
Bastardize my thoughts of peace,
Capitalized in wrought defeat,
Ironically, we keep our feet,
But fantasize a lot to keep,
This world of uncaring beasts,
Feasting on our hate's release.
Coasting on ships of desire,
Balanced on a trembling wire,
Balance is what keeps us up,
But most of us have dire ires.
Hating ourselves in kind,
So much that we cannot find,
A place where we can all be happy,
In our squalling frightened minds.
Can we look to one another,
To see the love that we would smother?
Can we take our pride away,
And for once just love our brothers?
If we don't then we are doomed,
To stand inside a smoky room,
Look at each other full of spite,
And say our death will be here soon...
