Chapter 2.
*****
I jolted awake as a phone began ringing.
"Get it, Ari." I felt a shove on my head after Max groaned.
Max? Oh. I rubbed my eyes and sat up to look beside me, he was leaning to the side of the couch, half covered in the blanket I had been under as we watched movies last night. Did we watch any movies? I can't remember watching anything, I must have fallen asleep. I seemed to have been leaning on him. Did we fall asleep at the same time?
"Ari, get - get the thing, it's loud!" I glared at Max as he groaned and sat up and ran his hands over his face into his hair before I grabbed my phone from the coffee table and answered it glancing at the name.
"Adrian?" I said.
"Hey, where are you? Are you coming by?" He asked.
I looked at the clock on the wall across the room, it was almost twelve. We slept for a really long time. "Yeah, I am. I just over-slept." I said.
"You? Over-slept? How long have I been gone for?" I laughed at his fake surprised voice.
"A long time." I said.
"Well, I'll make it up to you today, when will you be here?" He said. I smiled.
"I'll be over in an hour." I said.
"Alright, see you then. Love you, Ari." My smile grew as I looked down.
"I love you too." I hung up before I looked at Maximilian who was seated on the couch looking bored, "Why didn't you wake me up last night?" He had stayed up longer than I had, the half-eaten pizza on the table showed that.
"You said you were tired, I didn't want to interrupt your sleep." He said, "You going to the palace?" He asked.
"Yeah, Adrian's there. You can hang out with us as well, pretty sure you've been avoiding not just me." I said. He chuckled.
"I haven't been avoiding anyone, I was busy... I would, but I told Thandi and Jamie we could hang out today since we both got back yesterday." He said.
"You have to go home to get cleaned up though."
He looked down at his winkled t-shirt and jeans before he looked back at me, "I'm good."
I laughed. "Max."
"I showered and changed last night before I came here because the flight was so long, these are still basically clean, Ari." He tried to explain.
I shook my head as I laughed. "Can you clean up, please? While I get ready."
He groaned. "Why? This is your house."
"You brought the pizza!" I exclaimed appalled.
"For you!" He replied.
"You ate basically all of it." I frowned glancing at the food on the table, what was left of it.
"I didn't tell you to fall asleep."
"You're so annoying." I hissed. He grinned up at me and I rolled my eyes before I laughed.
"Fine, I'll clean up." He chuckled.
"Thanks." I mumbled as I made my way to my room. I got cleaned up before I stood in front of my wardrobe debating on whether to dress casually or try to make an effort. It was the first time I would be seeing Adrian in a while but it wasn't like we were going anywhere, still, he was always so dressed up from what I saw on the internet, he would probably look that way today. I bit my lip deciding on a long-sleeved casual black dress and changed into it before I slipped my feet into sneakers and tied my hair back. I walked out of my room and into the kitchen to find
