Chapter 10.

*****

I bit my lip feeling somewhat choked up I stared down at the picture. The messages before it were my sister asking if I was still seeing Adrian because I had not told her about us breaking up but here he was with another girl, so we clearly had to be broken up. I did not know why I felt so upset, maybe it's because it looked like the same girl as the other pictures. She had the same hair colour, though I could not see her face because it was hidden behind his head. They looked like they were kissing, but it could have been the angle, and maybe it was just a kiss on the cheek as lots of people seemed to do to greet other people. The princes did not do it often though, unless they knew the person and it was the culturally friendly thing to do. Maybe she was French. I tapped the screen to reply to my sister and hovered my finger over the keyboard before I told her I would talk to him. It could just be the angle, I did not want to jump to any conclusions. It made no sense to me to get upset about something I was not certain about, so the stuffy feeling in my chest was confusing and annoying to me. I would just talk to him about it later... If I could reach him.

"Aria, is something wrong?" I looked at Maximilian, he did not usually call me Aria, just Ari. It made the question sound much more serious. I smiled at him.

"No." I shook my head. "Let's go on that one again." I pointed to the first rollercoaster we had been on, it was the biggest and my favourite so far, as I shoved my phone into my pocket.

"That one's better." He motioned his head to a tall rollercoaster I could see across the yard. "It's the fastest, highest. I figured we could go one that one last. Well, I guess this is the last ride," he glanced towards the pocket I had shoved my phone into, "We can get the food on the way back." I had forgotten about ordering pizza. Again. I nodded and he smirked as he stepped back and held his hands out in front of him making a square with his fingers as if looking at me through a frame while he closed one of his eyes. I furrowed my brows at him.

"What are you doing?" I asked watching him back further and further away.

"Trying to see how far back I have to get for your head to fit into the frame." He had turned on his heel and was sprinting away immediately after he said it, a good thing because I was right behind him uncertain of what I would do once I caught him, it was just instinct to chase him. I caught up to him pretty quickly after we turned a few corners and basically tackled him onto the grass.

"Aria!" Ethan's shout was mostly concern for the prince as we rolled on the grass but I locked my arms around Maximilian's neck and arm to keep him from moving as I pinned him on the ground. "Jesus, be careful."

"I am, Ethan." I responded before I turned back to Maximilian who was squirming trying to get out of my lock – unsuccessfully, "You shouldn't talk so much if you can't run fast enough to get away, Max." I let him go as he finally tapped my arm and I stood up to smile down at him because he did not move and instead pouted up at me.

"Was that really worth a tackle?" I bit my lip trying not to react to his face because he looked like an upset little kid, "Help me up." He raised his hands. I laughed as I took them and pulled him to his feet, it did not take much because he basically got up himself anyway and stumbled into me swinging his arms around my shoulders, "You're so strong, carry me!"

"Max, go away." I tried to shake him off. We laughed as he stepped back.

"So, what was that earlier?" He asked seriously as we began walking again.

"What?" I asked, "On the phone? Nothing. Liliana just wants to meet up." I shrugged. He nodded and we stopped walking and I looked up realising there was a stairway to the top of the ride and half of it was underground, so it was going to be a long drop. I ran my way up really excited about the ride as Maximilian followed behind me. Once at the top, a few of the guards actually opted to join us because it was the last ride and we all got strapped in with Maximilian and I in the front.
