Chapter 4.

*****

"Ari. Ari." I sighed lifting my hands to cover my ears and heard him chuckle as he grabbed my wrist and pulled my hands from my ears, "Aria, wake up."

"Max, go away." I groaned. I frowned as he laughed softly.

"I thought you were used to waking up at 4 AM."

I opened my eyes to glance at the window before I looked back at Maximilian to glare at him. Yes. It was still dark out.

"Why... why are you waking me at four when we went to sleep at two thirty?" I asked. I glanced around me and my frown deepend as I noticed he had not woken Jamie and Thandi.

We had stayed up until two messing around in the pool, playing video games and binge watching series. Despite the palace having as many guest rooms as a mini hotel, we had all made make-shift beds on Maximilian's bedroom floor – something we only did because his parents and Adrian were not home.

"Let's fight." He smirked.

I stared at him. "Are you serious?" I glared at him through my narrowed eyes.

"Come on, it'll be fun." He said.

"Fun?" I gave a scoff as I looked away from him, "So you're cashing in your 'I owe you'?" I asked.

"Of course not. This is just for fun." I rolled my eyes and fell back, drawing the blanket back over my shoulders so I could go back to sleep, "Are you scared? Have you lost your edge since you left the agency? I heard you have. Danica and your previous partners overshadowing you –"

"How do you know who Danica is?" I sat up again.

"I have my ways."

"Of keeping tabs on me?" I asked furrowing my brows.

"Yeah. I keep tabs on everyone. Gabe is dating a girl called Sarah – he has been for the past couple of months – he hasn't told any of us yet, we'll see when he decides to. Shayne took up polo but sucks at it so God knows why he's still playing, on the other hand he's surprisingly good at creating websites – he's been selling those for extra money while he studies. My brothers are pretty easy to check up on, just Google them. The only people that are really hard to find are your family. The agency is pretty tight with information, aren't they?"

"So you're stalking everyone?" I asked.

"Pretty much." He shrugged, somehow unbothered by being called a stalker, "Come on." He threw a pair of pants at me and walked out of his room. I sighed again but grabbed the pants as I got out of bed.

I looked at Jamie and Thandi feeling slightly jealous of their sleep before I walked into the bathroom and changed out of Edward's shorts, which I had borrowed to sleep in, and into the tracksuit pants Maximilian had given me. I raised my brows seeing that actually fit. I left the bathroom and jogged my way downstairs to the gym.

"Oh, cool. They fit." Maximilian grinned at me as I walked into the gym. He was in the middle of doing some stretches.

"Did you steal these from Thandi's bag?" I asked.

"No, they're mine. They haven't fit since I was thirteen. You're so short." He laughed as he reached to touch his toes.

"Shut up." I shoved him making him fall onto his back and I laughed.

"It was a compliment!"

"Of course it was." I rolled my eyes as I began warming up alongside Maximilian.
