Chapter 26.

*****

*Maximilian*

I grit my teeth as the phone rang in my ear, I let it for a while until the line finally just went dead and I gave a harsh sigh as I dropped my head back onto my headboard. It was the fifth time I had tried to get through to Diego and it was not even after twelve yet. I had never met him in person apart from at Liliana's wedding and then I had not known what he did, this time I just received a very annoyed phone call from him about explaining how to operate the technology I had demanded in exchange for spying on Aria. I never told her about that, just the lessons I got from them but they had given me those to test her. Diego was upset that he had been told to call me on his day off because everyone else was busy, his tone had worn off when I began asking him questions and we had a great conversation before he hung up after telling me the number he used was not one I could return calls to. It was fine because I had then used the same technology to get his number from Nicole's phone. I figured I might need to get into contact with him one day, but Aria was already gone by then so I could not get into her phone.

After the palace was entered and almost blown down, we had to move out for a while while they would be rebuilding it, it was going to take a long time considering they planned on upgrading everything on the inside while they were at it. So here we were in an unmarked mansion not really allowed to go anywhere because our parents did not think it was a good idea to draw more attention to ourselves while they tried to take care of the noise surrounding everything that had happened at the palace and within the family. It was actually the first time in a while I was inside this long with all of my brothers. I had not really been out of my room, but I could hear Edgar and Edward bicker constantly outside before Adrian usually told them they were making a noise and being annoying, at which point the twins would join forces and the three of them would begin bickering. I would have joined in if I was not so absorbed in trying to find out about Aria. I knew this was a rare time for us, and once we were able to leave again we may not see each other as much again but I could not quiet my mind or worry until I knew she was okay and that was not happening.

After we fell into the pool, I had still held onto Aria and when we climbed out there was so much blood on her head. She seemed fine for a second as she asked Adrian and I if we were okay and did not seem to notice her own blood before she just fainted. Then she was taken away by Riley to get treatment. That was a week ago, I had not seen or heard from her since. I had been worried sick and trying to get into contact with Rave and Diego, but they were not answering any of my attempts at getting into contact with them, no one was except the one agency receptionist I had managed to get through to. All I got from him was that they could not share information on any of their agents so I should contact the person in charge of our contract, but Arthur had told me the same thing he had before he also stopped answering my calls. It was such bullshit. She had got hurt during the mission, the least they could do was tell us if she was okay afterwards. Especially because she was not just some agent.

I shook my head looking at my phone again and dialling Rave's number. I watched it ring until it died unanswered, the same way it had with Diego's a few minutes before I switched back to keep trying as I lifted my eyes to the window across the room. I had not been to their headquarters before, never even heard of the location or city it was in, so I had no idea where she could possibly be. There had to be a way I could find out if she was okay though...

I could get into their system if I wanted to. I could trace anyone with the technology they had given me and let me play around on as payment to looking into Aria, but I did not want myself on bad terms with the agency given that we would probably have to keep having a good relationship with them and I doubt hacking into their system would keep that relationship the way it currently was.
