Epilogue

*****

I walked upstairs glancing around to make sure no one saw me. I was not really sure why, I guess if I ran into Maximilian I could pretend I did not know he had his 2nd level test in an hour or so.

I had not seen him in a few weeks. Since he joined the agency a year and a half ago, we rarely ran into each other because our schedules were completely different. When we did see each other, it was like we saw each other every day and we just settled into hanging out and talking like we used to. Usually we only ran into each other for a couple of hours at a time or less.

Once upstairs, I unlocked Diego's office using an exact copy I had of his finger along with the password. I knew it because I always watched him type his password in and even when he changed it, he never typed it fast enough for it to get by me. I stepped into the office and noted that he had left every single one of his PCs on while leaving the lights off, he was supposed to have gone to sleep but there was clearly someone that had recently been in the room given the hot beverage on the desk – I knew it was not Diego that had put it there because he would absolutely lose his mind if he realised someone had put liquid so close to his computers, he did not allow people with food past a line he had taped on the floor. I spotted a reflection against the cup and in one of the PCs dark enough to show it and frowned as I closed the door.

"What are you doing here?" I asked. The chair the person was in swung around and Gerard smiled at me.

"I figured I would see what everyone is up to. You here to stalk your boyfriend?"

"He's not my –" I groaned in frustration and Gerard smirked. I shook my head. Rave had started this on the day he left Maximilian and I alone in that room, so far only my brothers called him that but we got side-glances from some other people when we were together. I always pretended to have no idea why when Maximilian asked why people kept staring at us. I frowned pointing at the cup, "Diego's going to kill you. You should put it over there before he walks in here." I pointed behind us as I took a seat next to him.

"Right." He replied as he took the cup into his hand and lifted his foot to kick the table lightly so he could roll over to the other side of the room and place the cup where Diego's other snacks were kept, "I was here first, so you're going to have to get somewhere else to spy on him."

"What are you even doing? Watching people eat?" I asked seeing that one of the camera's he chose to look at was in the cafeteria. Actually... all of them were. I shoved Gerard's seat as soon as he tried to exit the cameras and gasped.

"Who is she?!" I cried out seeing that every camera had some angle on one girl as she ate with a couple of others. "You're spying one her. This is weird! You're a creep." I said.

"Yes, and you did not come here to watch Maximilian?" He replied narrowing his eyes at me.

"I... I was going to watch the second level exams." I said.

"Funny how you just skipped everyone else that has already went through it."

"Shut up. Who is she?" I repeated as I leaned back.

"Serena. First level."

"First level?" How did he even know her?

"I ran into her when I was getting checked up a few months ago. Lance was busy so I had to see another doctor and she happened to be there with a broken wrist." He said as he switched the cameras, "Do you know which room he will be in?" I did. I felt somewhat embarrassed that I knew where every stage of his exam was taking place. I just... I wanted to see his progress...

"Did you speak to her again after that?" I asked leaning towards the PCs so I could change them to the rooms Maximilian would be in.

"Yeah, got her number. We talk every day." I smiled at him and he blushed as he turned away from me before pointing to the screen, "There he is." He pointed. "He's quite popular, isn't he?"
