"Your highness, the council has mad a list of laws that we think you might want to change." Mary says.
"Okay, let me see them." I look at the list that is titled Queen Charlotte's Laws. I look at the laws on the list and I immediately feel the need to change them.
"What the heck kind of laws are these?" There is one saying that coughing in her presence will result in severe punishments, that's plural by the way. There's another one that says that if you miss you're taxes once then you are banished. That's horrible.
"They were your mother's" She says.
"Okay, that actually makes sense." I never really knew my mother's name but it make sense that she would make theses laws.
"Okay, I think that I'll have to change all of these. They're ridiculous!" There was one about no singing and another one about how she has to be given three fourths of what ever money people made.
"Okay, would you like to meet with the council this afternoon to make the changes." Mary asks with a smile.
"Yes, thank you." I say.
"I will notify them now." Mary says as she leaves. How is it that she is the only person around here that I actually know besides Aaron. Well, I actually do tend to spend a lot of time in my room so that make sense now.
"Thank you." I say.
Well, I should probably figure out what I'm going to wear. I know that I need to make a good impression, no, a great impression. They are the ones who decide whether or not the king or queen should be overthrown. The reason why my mother remained queen was because they were afraid of her. I don't want their fear. I want their respect. That is why I need to look the part and act the part.
I rummage through my closet to find something that my mother would never have worn. She never wore light colors because she thought it made her seem to soft. She was mean and she wasn't afraid to look it. I finally find a dress that I like. It's white with blue lace.

I put it on, along with some shoes, and I wait for the meeting. I sit on a chair next to the balcony where Peter helped me escape long ago. I'm not really sure how much time has passed but It can't have been long. It had to have been less than two years.
"You're highness, they are ready for you."Someone says. I hadn't realized the time change.
"oh, okay." I say.
"Is everything alright?" she asks.
"Yeah, I just lost track of time." I say to her. She takes me to a room that I've never really been allowed in until now. It's a wide room with a circular table in the middle. I st in the only empty seat as soon the meeting starts.
"Okay, so we are here to discuss the changing of Queen Charlotte's Laws. Are there any questions?" a man with one eye asks. It looks as though he lost his other one since he's wearing an eye patch. Although it is obvious that he's not a pirate.
"Will they be worse or are you going to make them better?" one man asks.
"I intend to create peace. I do not wish to make them worse." I say choosing my words carefully. I don't really know why I have to talk like this. It really bothers me.
"Do you intend to follow in your mother's footsteps?" Another guy asks.
"No. I do not." I say.
"Okay, we shall now proceed." The guy with the eye patch says. "Which of your mothers laws do you wish to change?"
"All of them." I say bluntly.
"All?"
"Well, yeah." I say as though it was obvious. I'm done with this whole act proper act. If I'm going to win their respect, it will be me not every other person of royalty. I stand up before continuing to speak. "All of my mother, Charlotte's laws are wrong. For example, this law right here." I say pointing at it. "It's about having an execution every Sunday. That's wrong and I'm not impressed that my mother created that."
"What else?"
"Well, there's all of them. They're all about violence. How are we supposed to make Ambia a better place when we have all these laws about death and punishment and shit." I say causing everyone to laugh. "Instead of these laws, I have made some of my own. I actually only came up with thirteen since most of my mother's laws make no sesce at all.
"Well, Y/N, we would love to here them." they say questionably.
"Okay, well, I actually wrote them all down for each of you." I say.
"Thank you." They take their time to read and it feels like twenty minutes have already passed. It doesn't take twenty minutes to read a list of thirteen things.
"These are great! They're as strict like Charlotte's but just strict enough to keep order and peace." One mas says. "They will be posted first thing tomorrow."
"Thank you." I say
"No, thank you." they say to me.
"I guess we're done."
I walk back to my room feeling happy with what happened today but that changes once I enter my room. coming from the mirror next to my bed I see the black fairy.
"So, making a lot of changes are we? I hope you are not forgetting our deal" She says.
"I'm not." I say quickly. I haven't forgotten. I just thought that I had more time.
"I hope for your friends sake that you're right." She says.
"What are you doing here?" I asks.
"Checking your progress."
"What?!"I say "I've only been here a few days. I don't even know where to start!"
"Then you better get started now because if you fail then maybe your friend James will suffer a lot more than a limp for the rest of his life."
"I will" I say.
"Good." With that she disappears leaving me with only one priority now. I have to find the savior.
