Day 5:
The sun was already shinning through the curtains when I woke up. I reached across the bed for Blake when my hand met the cold fabric. I jolted up and looked next to me to see Blake gone and his side of the bed already made. I ignored that I was more disappointed than I would rather have admitted. I quickly showered and got dressed. I was walking down the stairs before the amazing smell of bacon fill my senses. I was in the kitchen in a matter of seconds. Blake turned around from the counter and jumped when he saw me.
"Don't scare me like that!" He said in a high pitch voice.
"I thought the alpha wasn't scared of anything." I said before I grabbed a plate and loaded it with bacon. In the corner of my eye, I saw a tiny grin on Blake's face before I turned away and dug into my bacon. Halfway through eating my bacon, thoughts from last night started to flood my mind. What stood out the most was his feelings or should I say feeling.
Could he possibly love me? I mean, I've only knew him a week. The only other reason that he could possibly love me is that he doesn't love me at all, its only his wolf that loves me. That's to be expected because he is my mate as I am his.
I look up from my plate and saw Blake leaning on the counter with a glass of water, slowly sipping it while starring at me.
"What is it?" He asked me.
"What is what?" I asked right back. He set his glass on the counter next to him, and pushed off the counter, walking towards me.
"You have this... how do I say this.... look I guess. Esme as the same look when she's studying." He said. He is now standing across from me.
"It's nothing really." I say and look down at my plate. He sighed.
"Look at me." He said. I didn't. "Look at me Melanie."
I slowly looked up and met his eyes. I quickly looked away again.
"It's nothing important Blake." I say.
"Ok." Blake said. Please let it go. " I guess you wouldn't mind if I know then."
Stop avoiding it Melanie. You're going to have to talk to him later about this, might as well do it now.
"So last night, I fe-" I stopped as I got a major headache. I stood up and grabbed the table as another wave of pain went through my head. Blake was at my side in an instant.
"Melanie what's wrong?" Blake asked with worry in his voice.
"I don't k-" I swore. "Mind link."
I opened up my mindlink and it was bombarded with Grace's and Jake's voice.
"We need you now." Grace said.
"It'd bad." Jake said. There was one more voice that stood out from theirs.
" Melanie if you hear me," It was my father, " We are in battle right now."
I looked at Blake with tears in my eyes.
"They're at war right now." I whispered before I ran out the door. I shifted into my hawk and flew towards my pack. I kept low to the trees, where I saw Blake racing below me. We reached my pack in a few hours. It didn't talk long to get the location from where they are, you could hear them from a mile away. I shifted back into my human form as I skidded to a stop next to Blake along the tree line.
It didn't take long to figure out who's winning or losing. But I knew one thing for sure.
We were losing.
