"In four days, you will go into heat."

Those eight words kept ringing in my ears since they were spoken. Once my mother spoke them, my mind went blank. I vaguely remember shifting and coming to the building that I now stand before. I don't know how long it took me to get either. I stood in front of the door as I began to raise my hand to knock. The door swung open to reveal a wild face Esme as she pulled me into Blake's house and into the kitchen.

"Where the hell have you been! Blake is going crazy!" She spoke fast as she paced across the floor. I silently watched as she slowed her breathing as she turned to me. I didn't say anything as she slowly took in my appearance. She held my gaze when her shoulders slumped down before she sat next to me. She pulled me into a hug and began to brush my hair with her fingers. I started to silently cry onto her shoulder. Esme held me for what felt like hours but was only minutes.

"I am going into heat in four days Esme." I whispered. She grew stiff as she pulled back to look at me from an arms length away. She searched my eyes for something before she as nodded.

"Are you completely sure? How do you know for certain? A female doesn't go into heat until around a month after they are marked. Wait. When did you get marked exactly?" She said as she stood up and resumed pacing. I sighed.

"Blake marked me three days ago. And I am not a regular female Esme, I am a hybrid and no I don't know for certain." I told her. She stopped in her place has she turned toward me. She gestured with her hand for me to follow her as she began to walk out of the room. I stood and silently followed her.

"When you and Blake were gone, I was busy here. More specifically I was researching." She paused and pulled out a key as she stood in front of a locked door.

"What were you researching?" I asked her. She glanced behind her to look at me as she said one word.

"You." She opened the door and I looked around the room. The walls were painted a very light blue. Beneath a window on the side of the room was a desk. On top of the desk was a few scattered papers and a few piles of books next to it. Across the door, there was another large window that had two white fluffy chairs. Across from the desk was a wall full of books.

"Its beautiful really. The books I mean. I picked up reading as a hobby to distract me I guess. There is books that range from Fantasy to Nonfiction and many other Genres too. You can borrow any you would like. I think there is a few I could recommend for you." She said as she walked toward the desk. And began organizing the scattered papers.

"OK." I whispered and she nodded at me and pointed to the stack of books next to her.

"These books here are ones based around Hybrids and their abilities. It is all based on what we have learned from other hybrids from our past. It contains their history and some of ours. You may know some of this information as you did research it yourself. But it doesn't hurt to read the information. So if you can, read some of these books to see if they have any information on mating." She picked up a small stack of books and handed them to me. "You can sit in the chairs if you would like but you can read them anywhere you want."

I nodded to her before I walked over to the chairs. I sat down in the chair that faced the window and picked up a book to read. Esme wasn't wrong, it doesn't hurt to reread a book to see if I missed something.

The sky darkened by the time I finished reading a few books. I was almost halfway through the next book when my stomach began to growl. Esme looked up from her book and laughed at me.

"I'll go make us some food. I hope you like grilled cheese." She said and set her book down.

"Grilled cheese is fine." I said and turned back to my book. It didn't take long for Esme to return with two plates with grilled cheese on them. I muttered a 'thank you' to her and continued to read after she handed me my plate. The book I was currently reading is a Autobiography by a woman named Eliora Carter. She was a hybrid that was a spy for a pack in the early 1700s it says. She was talking about how she was looking for something as a visiting pack visits her pack. I continued reading.
