Chapter 19

I didnt sleep much, but just lying down for five minutes felt like heaven.

Maggie didnt sleep much either. We had both taken a side on the bed and we talked for a bit, tired as we were, sleep didnt seem to come. I was too nervous to see if it would work or not, the plan I mean. Maybe Henry doesnt know anything at all. There was only one way to find out.

Time went by slowly - especially since I was staring at the clock- and it was time to get a move on and wait for Alex and Monty

"Do you think he knows anything?" I asked Maggie "Henry. Does he actually know anything?"

"Im not sure" She sighed an ran a hand through her messy locks " There had to be a reason for Ash to lock him up, so he has to know something" She said

" I suppose so. I mean, even if he knows the truth about Ash, its not enough to prove anything to anyone is it?" I asked

"People would need evidence" Maggie agreed, nodding. Then she shook her head "You dont need to worry about that much. We can show you the way out of here. Im not saying its easy to get out, especially if you want to get off the mountain, but its doable" she said

"No" I said shaking my head "We are not leaving without the rest of our people" I said and even Maggie knew she couldnt make us leave without Jasper or Raven or the rest of the 100

"I know" Maggie said fondly "I admire your courage, Clarke, I really do. But sometimes you have to do things even when you dont want to, or if you think its not the right thing to do" She said "Im not saying you need to abandon your people, Im just saying that you may be a better help to them if you werent locked up like they are"

" I know" I said sighing as I sat down on the edge of the bed " I want to save them, and I cant see myself leaving without them"

Maggie nodded and she sat down next to me "Things will work out eventually, trust me. In the end they always do" She said and I smiled at her

" I want to believe in that so badly but with all the stuff happeneing, I cant" I said to her

"Its understandable. Dont worry" She said and there was a knock on the door

"Show time" Maggie muttered under her breath and opened the door to find Alex and Monty standing there, ready to go

"You guys good to go?" Alex asked as he entered only to be pushed out again by Maggie

"Yes, lets go" She said and the two of them lead the way as Monty and I followed

"Did you get much sleep?"I asked Monty but I already knew the answer

"Probably the same amount as you did" Monty said and I nodded

We walked the rest of the was in silence. There was not many people around in the hallways. Most were sleeping as Alex had explained and he had said that most people wont be out until 7. We had four hours.

The way to the prison -which was basically the same type of rooms we were in excpet on the other side of the building- was short. We took one last turn to come face to face with a huge double set of doors.

"Its through here" Alex said he pushed the doors open 

"Arent there any guards?" Monty asked as he followed Alex through the door

"Doing what? Watching the people that did nothing and are only here because Ash hates them? No, there is no one in here apart from the people in the cells" He said

There were less people then I excpected. All together there were many cells-around 100- but only 20 of them were occupied

We walked past people looking through the small glass panel on the door and suddenly I wished we could free all of them.

Sadly, we cant.

We made it to the last door and Alex took out a set of keys from his back pocket to open it. wanst even going to ask where he got it from

The door opened and inside was an older man- around 60- sitting on a chair looking like he hadnt moved from there in years. He probably hadnt.

"Henry?" Alex asked and the man looked up at him. There was a small light in his eyes that broke my heart. All alone in a cell for a long time. It reminded me of being in the Ark. Locked up and waiting to die.

"Alex? My boy, is that you?" He asked in a quiet voice

"Yes, its me Henry" Alex said as he moved closer to the man

"Ive been excpecting you" He stated and Alex didnt look suprised 

" So you know why we are here?" Alex asked again

"I know you are not here to free me" Henry mused and he seemed content for a moment

"You know that I cant do that, Henry"

"I know, my boy" He said " You are here to find the papers, am I right?" He asked and all of us nodded in response. " I regret to tell you my boy, that it is no longer here. It is outside of this place."

"Where!" We all asked at the same time and Henry grinned. He seemes to enjoy playing with our emotions, probaby because he was good at it

"Its at the Fall, my boy. Where else would it be?"
