Chapter 23

Brushing off that slightly awkward moment with Bellamy, I hurried after Monty and Maggie, who were as of now patiently waiting for me at the side

"What took you so long?" Monty asked me raid=sing his eyebrows but I just shrugged him off

"It was nothing, really" I replied "So how should we do this? Split up and search - we would cover more ground that way- or stay together because who knows whats out here" I ask them

Maggie and Monty looke at each other thougthfully and after a moment Maggie answers "There isnt too much ground to cover anyway so I say we stick together. More safe, for all of us" 

"Okay then, which way?" 

"Lets go a full circle around" Monty suggested and we headed off "Keep your eyes open for anything that looks out of place or perhaps something that is odd" 

"Got it!"

Belllamy

"Ow! Dammit, this is taking forever!" Alex exclaimed as another heavy rock splashed into the water behind him

"I agree" Finn said grunting while he threw yet another giant stone into the waterfall

"We dont really have much of a choice do we?" I said while wiping sweat off  forehead my with the edge of my sleeve

"While we have the time" Finn started while removing another rock " Why dont you tell us how exactly the people dont know you are supposed to be in control? I mean, didnt your father anoucnce who would be leader if he were to not return?"

"We don't really discuss those types of things. I suppose we should start, but we tend to be pretty positive. No one in their right mind would have even thought that there was a possibility that my father would not make it back. Im sure even Ash just got lucky and he wasnt excpecting it" Alex said, eyes never leaving his hands while he worked

"How much older are you anyway?" I asked and Alex shook his head slightly

"Only a couple mintutes actually.  If im not mistaken,Ash was born 3 minutes after I was. Funny how it seems like such little time yet it is so important" Alex mused and Finn nodded along as he spoke

"I guess your right" I admitted. Growing up on the Ark, all of us knew how important little things could be. Having another sibling being one of them.

I know that Lincoln would never hurt O, but sometimes I cant help but wonder. What if the grounders found them? Or the reapers? Hell, the mountain men could have them locked up without Clarke knowing. Atleast she was alright with the rest.

"Hey! Its starting to crumble!" Finn bellowed and Alex and I ran close to spectate. He was right. 

There was a small hole where a rock had been 

"Keep digging! We need an big enough hole to enter and we dont have much time!" Alex said while grabbing at a rock next to the one Finn had removed and once again all three of us got to work.

Clarke

"There's nothing here!" I exclaimed and the others nodded their heads with me

We had walked around at least three times and found no other entrances. I guess we finally ran out of luck.

"Were out of luck" Maggie sighed.Exactly what I was thinking.

"We should head back" I said and once again was met by nods

"Maybe they had better luck with moving the stones. You never know" Monty suggested 

"Maybe" Maggie said as we started heading back

" I Just wish-" Monty started but he didnt get to finish

"Monty!" A scream escaped my throat as I watched an arrow sink into his chest as if it was played in slow motion

Monty had been shot.

Right in the heart.
