Rose
Right now, it was somewhere past midnight and I'm trying to stay engaged in a conversation with a few girls Victoria had introduced me to a while ago, but my gaze and thoughts unwillingly kept going back to a certain someone.
The birthday customs were done with a while ago and most of the adults had already left leaving the younger generation behind to party. People were either dancing to the music or just hanging around enjoying themselves.
It was weird to me how much I was intrigued by this guy.
I found my eyes slowly drifting towards him when I caught his dark eyes already on me.
Even from a distance, Rhyan was a sight to behold. His dark brown hair was slicked back with a few stray pieces falling over his stormy blue eyes. The dark blue dress shirt he wore fitted his lean but muscular 6'3 body perfectly. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up and he had a drink in his right hand. He was standing a few feet away talking to a few other guys, who don't seem to notice that his attention was elsewhere.
I had expected him to look away after we'd caught each other's eye, but to my surprise, he holds my gaze.
He had an unreadable expression on his face as we got locked into a silent staring contest, but the intensity of his stare made my cheeks burn and I quickly looked away.
"What's wrong with me?.." I whispered to myself as I tried to calm my racing heartbeat down by closing my eyes and taking a few breaths, which luckily goes unnoticed by people around me.
I look back in his direction, just to see that his gaze hadn't wavered.
I seriously couldn't understand what was wrong with this guy. I mean, why keep staring at me when you clearly don't like me? This guy certainly had some issues.
Um, sweetie? You're the one to talk? Could YOU explain why you were staring at him too, when you claim you don't like him either? I pursued my lips ignoring the small voice in my head.
"Oh my god, is that Rhyan Knight looking this way?"
"I swear to God, he is SO HOT." I heard some girls behind me whisper and giggle excitedly.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at that. So, what I'd heard so far about him was true. Girls practically worshipped the jerk like he was some sort of God or something. Maybe that's the reason why he thinks that he is better than everyone.
This time I glared in his direction, and it's like even from the distance, he could sense my irritation as a smirk slowly began to form on his perfect face. Which to my displeasure, only fueled my annoyance to a whole new level.
"God, give me strength." I muttered to myself, trying my best to focus on what the girls were talking about.

I pulled my phone out from my clutch and checked the time. It was almost 3 o'clock in the morning and I just wanted to go home at this point.
The party was slowly coming to an end and most of the people had already left.
I chugged back the remainder of my drink and looked at Amber, who looked just as tired. I told her that I think it's time we headed home and she agreed.
