Silently Falling

Chapter 12

Rose

I hadn't realised how tired I was until I had laid down on my comfortable bed and woke up straight at noon.

I still felt a bit tired and wanted to stay in bed for a little longer but I heard my stomach growl with hunger. This made me reluctantly get out of my bed and freshen up.

I headed downstairs towards the kitchen to have something to eat and spotted Amber sitting at the kitchen island with her wavy brown hair all messed up. She was having a cup of coffee whilst looking like she was still battling sleep.

"Good morning Ambi" I murmured as I got myself some milk and cereal.

"Good morning" Amber replied sleepily as I sat down beside her on the table.

We silently ate our own foods as I was in no mood for small talk and neither was Amber.

I finished my breakfast and left the kitchen to head back towards my room. In the living room, I could see Alex along with Rhyan and Ivan watching a football match. I tried to quietly sneak past them to the stairs as they couldn't see me yet because they were sitting on the couch with their backs facing me. I'd almost reached the stairs when I heard Alex call out to me.

"Hey, Rosie. Did you just get up?"

I silently cursed my luck as both Rhyan and Ivan now turned their heads to look at me.

"No, I got up a while ago and had breakfast." I trailed off awkwardly as I was feeling a little embarrassed standing before them in my strawberry patterned pink shorts and t-shirt PJ's set.

Rhyan stared at my fuzzy pink slippers before his eyes slowly moved upwards taking in my just-out-of-bed look. I don't think the situation could get any more awkward as his eyes lingered on my exposed legs.

"Well someone looks all cute and pinky." Ivan whistled causing Rhyan to snap back to reality.

His piercing eyes met mine for a second before he quickly looked away and refused to meet my gaze. He had his everyday cold expression on as he ran his hand through his dark brown hair but something was telling me that he was a bit flustered. I tried not to care and decided to ignore him.

Ivan let out an 'oof' as he received an elbow to the side from Alex.

I laughed as Ivan gave me a wink after recovering from the blow. I heard footsteps behind me and saw Amber stroll in looking uninterested in the scene before her.

"Lol look another cutie has woken up from the dead." Ivan had a smirk on his face as he teased Amber.

"Why the hell is this dude over so early? Can't I have some peace in the mornings?" Amber grumbled as everyone started laughing.

"Darling just because you just woke up doesn't mean it's morning. It's literally 1 in the afternoon so quit sulking."

"Mind your business, Ivan." Amber rolled her eyes and headed to her room.

After taking a shower, I spent the next hour in my room doing nothing in particular.

I was in no mood to leave my room when Amber asked me to join her to go get some food. As expected she didn't take no for an answer and I had to agree.
