Tick...tick...tick...

The ticking of the huge clock could be heard aloud in the dead silent classroom.

"Oh, c'mon isn't it time already?!"

"Keep it down, will you Amber? If Mrs. Allison hears you she's going to give us both detention." I hushed her as I went back to doing the worksheet.

*Bell rings*

"Yess!" Amber jumped and fist-bumped into the air, her grey eyes sparkling with triumph which made me and Lynda laugh. I couldn't lie though, hearing the last bell ring really was the most satisfying thing I'd heard today.

We didn't waste any time as we quickly packed up our things and left the classroom along with the rest of the students. Today was a half day so everyone was excited to go home early.

After bidding Lynda goodbye, me and Amber were walking towards the parking area when my feet came to an abrupt stop.

"Shit. I almost forgot, I was asked to visit the administration office after class." I groaned.

"No problem, let's get there right now," Amber suggested, and turned to walk back to the gates again when I called after her.

"There's no need for that. You can go home with Alex, I'll be fine on my own."

"Are you sure you don't want me to at least wait for you?"

"I'm certain," I assured Amber and she shrugged her shoulders.

"Kay, see you."

I waved at Amber as she broke into a jog to catch up with Alex, before I turning around and walked towards the building.

My work at the administrative building didn't take long and I was currently on my way home. I decided to make a quick stop at the convent store that was on the way as I needed some school supplies for the next day.

As I drove into the parking lot, I noticed that there weren't many people there today. I parked my car in a random empty spot that was offering some shade from a nearby tree.

I knew that I wasn't a little girl anymore but can you blame me for being excited about new cute notebooks and pens? Something about them just brought out the child in me and I was here for it.

By the time I was done with checkout and was walking out of the store, I had two bags full of stationery goods in my hands and a happy grin on my face.

As I was heading towards the parking lot, my phone started going off and I let out a silent curse. My hands were full and I sighed as I debated on ignoring the call, but a small part of me was worried. What if it was something important?

I stupidly started to dig into my bag for my phone while continuing to walk towards my car and didn't see the oncoming car that was speeding my way until it was too late.

Luckily in a flash, a strong hand shot out grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the way, causing my timid frame to be pressed roughly against a bigger one which saved me from being possibly run over.

Everything happened so fast that for a second I couldn't understand what was happening, but my confusion was short-lived. My eyes widened in horror as I saw a black SUV whoosh over the spot where I was standing a few seconds ago with extremely dangerous speed.

I seemed to be in a state of shock as I hadn't even noticed that the bags I was holding had fallen onto the ground with a thud.

I don't think I was aware of anything but the quick rising and falling of the warm hard chest that I was currently squashed against.
