Rose

We'd been driving for a while with neither of us trying to break the silence.

The drive was smooth, and the roads lit up by the street lamps were pretty empty making the traffic nonexistent. In the distance, I could see the partially clear sky and some shining stars.

Rhyan turned out to be a smooth driver who actually paid attention to the road while driving. I never thought someone could make doing something as basic as driving look hot, but I was proved wrong.

Damnit. Even his side profile was to die for.

I was trying to focus somewhere else but it had become increasingly difficult to tear my eyes away from the perfection that was Rhyan Knight. The fact that we were sitting so close only seemed to fuel it.

I'm pretty sure the image of him casually driving with his one arm slightly resting against the doorframe and the other holding the steering wheel with rolled up sleeves that were further emphasising his incredibly sexy hands were burned to the back of my mind by now- but I didn't think I'd complain.

Stop it! At this point, you might as well check to see if you're drooling. Get a grip! I scolded myself as I forced my eyes to look somewhere else, not noticing the small smirk that had begun to form on Rhyan's lips.

There were times I wanted to say something to break the silence or was curious about what was going on in Rhyan's head but I refrained from saying anything. I'd gathered that he wasn't one to talk much, and I didn't want to come across as annoying.

I could also occasionally feel Rhyan's gaze on the left side of my face while he was driving, but I chose to ignore it. Just then, his phone started ringing.

From the corner of my eye, I watched him swiftly decline the call without a second thought, just for the phone to start ringing in a few seconds again.

He declined the call a couple of times in a row but the person on the call seemed persistent.

Rhyan let out a frustrated breath and I intervened.

"Maybe you should pick up the call? It could be something important." I suggested.

Rhyan spared a look in my direction before pulling the car to the side of the road.

The screen lit up again, and this time I noticed that Ashley's name was flashing in the caller's ID.

"Hello." Rhyan picked up the call this time, surprising me as I didn't think he'd take my suggestion.

"Rhyaaaannn" Ashley whined, making me cringe.

Rhyan sighed placing his hand on his temple like her whiney voice had already caused him a headache, which might actually be the case.

"You said you..you promised that you were gonna dropp me home... But i-instead you left with Rose! You left me for Rose!" She continued her whining slurring a bit with her words, giving me the impression that she was drunk.

"It hasn't even been a week that she's here and everyone is either singing her praises *hiccup* or falling to her feet! I-I hate that bitvh!" She continued to ramble.

Due to the fact that the call was on speaker, I could hear everything that she was saying about me loud and clear. My eyebrows were raised as she went on about her lovely thoughts about me.

"Ashley," Rhyan said in a slightly harsh voice, which shut Ashley up.

He began in a low tone, "I don't know who promised you that they'd drop you home, but I assure you, it wasn't me."
