Chapter Two

Michael's POV

I watched Diana as she exited the dreary school building and into the cool fall air. She was pretty, there was no doubt about that. She had big brown eyes that reminded me of Bambi and made her look so innocent and something else that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Her eyes were perfectly paired with her dark brunette hair that had natural highlights of a lighter brown mixed in. Her nose was so cute and little while her lips were plump and a gorgeous shade of pink. These were the things I had noticed when I first laid eyes on her and she intrigued me; I simply wanted to know more about her.

"Dude, you're staring at that chick you were just talking to." Luke pointed out. Luke was one of my best mates, we hated each other at first but now you would think we had grown up together.

"Thanks for pointing it out."

"Well if he hadn't you might have scared the poor girl Michael." Chimed Calum, another one of my close friends, the only difference being I actually liked him when we first met.

"What's her name?" He continued.

"Her name is Diana."

"There are a lot of Diana's in this large world. Whats's her last name?"

"Um I think she said it was Mathews. Why are you being so nosey?"

"That's just how he is Michael. I mean after knowing him for so long you would think you would know this about Cal." replied Luke who received an agreeing nod from Calum.

"That last name sounds really familiar to me" spoke Ashton. He was only at this school right now to drive us home, 20 year old seniors were not very common.

"Anyway, what were you two talking about?" smirked Calum.

"Thats none of your business Mr. Nosey Ass." I snapped back at him.He put his hands up in defense while he backed away from me by a few feet.

"Does anyone else think that last name sounds familiar or is it just me?" wondered Ash again as we began our short journey to his car.

"I felt like I recognized it from somewhere when she first told me, but it can't be that big of a deal right?"

"Maybe she was caught for murder and then escaped from jail and it was all over the news. We never really watch the news so we wouldn't know!"

"Wow Ash, great theory. Why don't you go check that out?" remarked Luke from his spot in the backseat as we pulled out of the pot hole infested parking lot

"You know what Luke? I will as soon as we get back to the house!"

"You do know that would require you to get up off of your lazy ass and not sleep all day right?"

"You know I could just drive Cal and Michael home while you walk the seven miles home."

"Aww come on Ash! You would never do that to your best bud would you?" pouted Luke, leaning towards the driver's seat to get a good look at Ashton. Calum was in the passenger seat shaking his head at their foolish fight.

"You want to bet?"

I ended up tuning out of their argument and let my mind wander to Diana. Ash did have a point about her last name, it did sound extremely familiar, although i highly doubted she was a murderer, she seemed much too innocent for any kind of violence to be involved in her life. If only I knew how wrong I was about that.
