"Umm... Hello?" Tyler said.

"Hi, I'm Lydia Marin... Is my aunt Carol here?" Lydia asked.

"No, she's out with my dad." Tyler replied.

"Oh..."

"She's your aunt?" Tyler asked.

"Yeah, she's my mother's twin."

"She never really talked much about any of you."

"Oh..."

"Come in, please," Tyler said, "I am surprisingly interested in the Marin family."

"Oh, umm..."

Before Lydia knew it she was in the Lockwood house talking about the Marin family tree.

"Wait, why did they all keep the Marin last name?" Tyler asked.

"Because there are rarely ever any Marin boys, but everyone wants the Marin name to carry on because we are Legendary... or something." Lydia replied.

"Why didn't my mom?"

"She was a rebel, even as a child. I remember hearing stories about her and just laughing with my sisters about it." Lydia told him.

The front door closed and Carol walked into the room.

"Lydia." Carol said, looking at Lydia with fear.

"Aunt Carol! It's so good to see you again. Umm... can I talk to you outside?" Lydia asked hesitantly with seeing how Carol reacted.

"Yes," Carol replied, much to Lydia's surprise.

Lydia followed Carol outside.

"I know you killed your mother." Carol said.

"Do you know why?" Lydia asked.

"No, but that do-"

"Her husband, who is not my father, and her were torturing me everyday because I was a bastard. Humiliating me, carving into me, doing everything possible to make me give up and die."

"Why didn't you die?"

"I'm a Liba and a banshee, and with the Marin history being what it is, a small bit wolfy."

"Why are you here?"

"I wanted to escape the same walls I always had, I mean I had the elves, but I wanted to run free. I don't just want to survive, I want to Live."

"You want to find him don't you?"

"Depends who you're talking about him or my father."

"You, curse breaker, want to find your one true love."

"I want to find both, Rebel."

They both laughed.

"I'm not much of a rebel here, Lydia. Tyler doesn't know what he is. It hasn't worked for him."

"I don't break curses on command, Carol. Tyler's is like many others who aren't full Libas, his powers will never work, he is basically just a human... or wolf."

Carol chuckled.

Carol and Lydia agreed on living arrangements, Carol gave Lydia clues on who her father could be, and everything was set. After a month, Lydia started to travel the states and had a terrible habit of showing up where someone had just been brutally murdered.
