Nik sat in bed with Lydia asleep on his lap. Rebekah walked in.
"Don't tell me it's true," she said.
Nik looked at her and clenched his jaw before looking down.
"No," Rebekah cried.
Nik continued to stroke Lydia's hair as small tears fell from his eyes.
A few hours later, Nik pulled out his phone and texted Dean.
N: can you bring me that book that Lydia was given when she turned into a Hybrid?
D: the one that says every detail about her?
N: yeah.
D: why?
N: something's happened. I need it.
D: what happened?
Nik looked up at the ceiling and sighed before responding.
N: my mother killed our unborn son.
D: were on our way.
Lydia woke up the next morning wrapped around Nik. She looked up at him and could tell he hadn't slept at all. She sat up besides him and looked blankly at the wall.
Elijah walked in with blood bags for them.
Lydia downed hers quickly before getting up and putting on sweats and a tank top. She threw on some deodorant and walked out wearing the slides Nik had got her for her birthday.
"Where's she going?" Elijah asked.
"She wants to kill Elena," Nik sighed.
"And you're going to let her?"
"I don't care about my stupid hybrids anymore," Nik replied before getting up and getting dressed.
He walked passed Elijah and faked that he was okay.
He walked out the front door and saw Lydia hugging her two brothers. Deans eyes met Nik's and he threw him the book. Nik thanked him before walking back inside.
Lydia walked into the Grille a while later and sat by Damon.
"Thank god," Damon sighed.
Lydia glared at him.
"Your whore is the reason my baby's dead."
Damon looked at her confused.
"I was pregnant," she told Damon.
Damon's jaw dropped.
"How?"
"I'm a Hybrid he's a Hybrid. Hybrids are fertile. We're part wolf. And all because Elena helped Esther..."
Damon clenched his jaw and looked at the bar.
Nik opened the book and began to read. He stopped when he saw:
'... the original Hybrid still has supreme power over her and if she does not have vervain it can compel her...'
Nik sighed and pinched the bridge of his knows.
"Am I really going to do this?" He asked himself.
"Please," Rebekah sighed, "not again."
Nik looked up at his sister.
"I have too. She's not safe here," Nik told her.
Rebekah looked down at the floor
"We can't lose her again."
"We need her to be safe, Rebekah."
Rebekah looked up at him with tears in her eyes.
"Make her 18," Rebekah told him, "trust me. Most bad things happened after that. She was happiest then."
Nik nodded to her.
"I'm going to send her far away from here," he told his sister.
Rebekah nodded and attempted to collect herself before leaving his room.
Nik got up and saw Lydia's "hold everything" bag. He grabbed it and started packing her things into it.
Lydia walked back into the house a few hours later and climbed into the Hybrids bed.
"Where have you been?" Nik whispered.
"Making it known I want Elena dead," Lydia replied, "also making it known that you probably won't let me, but that just means I can beat her ass but keep her alive so."
"Love," Nik sighed.
He grabbed her hand and pulled her up to him. He pressed his lips to hers like it was the last time he ever would.
Lydia pulled away and looked up at him with wide eyes.
"Whats happening?" Lydia asked.
Nik sadly smiled down at her. He gave Lydia her small bag.
"You're leaving me?" She asked, her eyes watering and lips quivering.
Nik shook his head and undid her vervain necklace.
"No," Lydia cried, "No baby don't. You promised."
"I promised to keep you safe as well," Nik sighed, "and you're not safe here."
Lydia wrapped her arms around him and cried.
"Lydia," he sighed, "Please don't make this harder than it has to be. Look up at me."
Lydia wiped her eyes and looked at him, knowing it was inevitable.
Nik grabbed her face lightly.
"You're going to forget me. You're 18 and don't want to be anywhere near Mystic Falls. You're good and happy. You are strong and smart. You know that you never want to be in Mystic Falls and you won't remember me until you get my ring back," Nik compelled her as he took his daylight ring off of her neck, "repeat that back to me, love."
"I forget you, I'm 18, I don't want to be near Mystic Falls. I'm good and happy and strong and smart. I never want to be in Mystic Falls. I will not remember you until I get your ring back."
"Good, now go get in your vehicle and go," Nik told her as he put her necklace back in place.
The originals stood at the end of the stairs and led her to the doorway. Nik looked down at all of them.
Lydia climbed in her Jeep and drove out of town.
The originals all stared up at Nik. Rebekah sped to him and wrapped her arms around him. He hugged her back. Rebekah looked at his neck and saw a new necklace and saw his ring on it.
"You gave her a chance to remember again?"
Nik nodded.
Rebekah smiled.
