The group spent weeks in Colorado before returning home where they spent two whole years of goofing off and being together, they even brought Kol back. Kol always flirted with Lydia to irritate Nik, but Lydia would either ignore it or have the snarkiest comeback in the world, sometimes shocking all of them with her wit. Nik took Lydia everywhere she had wanted to go, they even went to Paris. They were all happy... Until...

The town was covered in fire, dead bodies everywhere. Lydia ran around the town, looking for Nik, tears running down her face. Hands grabbed her around the mouth and waist. "Shhh," Nik said, "it's me, it's me." Lydia quickly turned around and hugged him.
"Lydia," Nik said, "you need to get out of here. It's not safe."
"I'm not leaving you," Lydia said.
"You have too, love." Nik replied.
Lydia shook her head no and he grabbed her face softly before taking off the vervain necklace he had given her, putting it in her pocket. Lydia's eyes widened.
"No, don't," Lydia said, "please don't send me away."
"I want you to forget me," Nik compelled her, "forget everything we had. Leave this town and get far away from me. You will not remember anything about us until you find that you love me again."
Lydia blinked and he was gone. She looked around at all the fire and the blood.
"Oh my god," she gasped.
She ran out of the town as she summoned all of her belongings into her tiny bag that held everything. It held her diary that held everything that had happened since she met Nik.
"Don't tell me you made her forget," Rebekah said to her brother.
"Forgive me," Nik said as he daggers his sister once more.
Elijah had gotten away, but Kol was also redaggered.
Lydia ran back to Mystic Falls where Carol set her up with her own house, about a mile away from the Salvatore Boarding House.
