Madelaine's POV

It was now Thursday. I was picking Vanessa up and we were going to hang out for the rest of the day. A small part of me was nervous and I still didn't know why. And it was bothering me. I put on my cute outfit and observed myself in the mirror, settling on this look. I put on the finishing touches to my makeup and turned on my phone. I texted Vanessa.

Me: hey! leaving now, see u soon

She responded shortly after.

Vanessa: k, see u soon :)

I left my apartment, closing the door and heading down the stairs. I walked outside, to feel the fresh air and warm sun hit my face. I unlocked my car and hopped into the driver's seat. As I drove and got closer to Cami's apartment, I couldn't help but feel nervous.

There was something about this girl that made me smile. Vanessa was different. But, in a good way. From the moment I met her, I don't know..there was just this strong connection I felt between us. I couldn't wrap my head around why I was having these thoughts and feelings. Especially about a girl. Especially since I just met her.

I eventually got to Cami's place and double parked outside, pulling out my phone.

Me: hi i'm outside now

Vanessa: kk coming

I put my phone away, when I saw the shorter girl come outside. I felt my face turn red, when I saw her smile. I waved at her as she got closer. She opened the passenger door hopping in.

"Hi!" I said to her. She turned to me and smiled brightly.

"Hi!" she laughed. Her hair was down, her long waves complimenting her beautiful face. She wore a red 'off the shoulder' top and skinny jeans along with short boots. The small amount of makeup on her cheeks glimmered against the sun pouring into the car. Her dark eyes almost seemed to glow as she smiled at me.

"Staring problem?" she asked. I blushed and looked away. She laughed at me. I nervously smiled, as we drove off. She didn't seem too nervous, but I definitely was. My entire body felt warm and stiff as I held tightly onto the wheel. So to distract myself, I turned up the music. She bopped her head to the music, as she began to dance in her seat. She was adorable. I couldn't help but smile and laugh like an idiot watching her.

We eventually got to Veggie Grill, parking in front. We got out of the car, as we grabbed our purses. We walked into the restaurant as I took in its bright, green theme. Groups of people sat in booths eating, while others sat by themselves at small tables. We walked up to the register where a young girl was working. She greeted us with a smile and said 'hi!' We placed our orders and the employee handed us two cups for our drinks. We headed to the beverage fountain and both got iced tea, then headed outside.

We sat down at a small table, while putting my bag against the back of the chair. Vanessa sipped on her drink as she pulled out her phone. I watched her graceful movements as she fixed her hair, not noticing me staring at her. I quickly looked away once she looked up.

"So what brings you to LA?" I asked. She smiled at me and turned off her phone.

"Just felt like getting away. When you live by yourself in a city like New York you tend to feel lonely," she sighed. I noticed her fake smile as she looked down. Obviously that was a sensitive topic, so I quickly changed it.

"Tell me about yourself," I placed my chin in my hand. She grinned as she scooted closer in her chair.

"Well...my name is Vanessa Morgan," she laughed. "I have a sister, I was born in Canada, I loveee tea, I've always wanted a dog," she said. I nodded, still smiling.

"What are your interests?" I asked, simply trying to start conversation.

"My number one dream was to become an actress..but that didn't happen," she shrugged taking a sip of her drink.

I sympathetically smiled, placing my hand on hers. "I know it's hard, but you just gotta keep trying," I said. "I'm sure you're amazing at acting..it just takes one role to change your life," I winked. She smiled at me, looking down. I squeezed her soft hand before letting go.

Our food eventually came, and we quickly dug into the salads we ordered. I could tell Vanessa loved it because she wouldn't stop eating. I laughed, as she wiped her mouth with a napkin.

"What?" she asked, giggling.

"You like, it don't you?"

"Eh..it's okay," she shrugged. I rolled my eyes, as I took a bite of my salad. As I finished my food, I took out my phone to check the time.

1:23 pm, it read.

Once Vanessa finished eating, we payed for our food and left.

"Wanna get outta here?" I asked, looking down at the shorter girl.

"What do you have in mind?" she asked, raising her eyebrow..

"You'll see," I smiled. I quickly grabbed her hand, guiding her to my car. I giggled at her as she curiously smiled at me. We immediately got in the car and drove off. I knew exactly where I was gonna take her.
