Madelaine's POV

I sat up slowly as I stretched. I squinted at the light pouring into the room. I looked around the room, trying to remember what had happened last night. But, that thought was quickly pushed to the side when I didn't feel so good. I quickly got out of bed, running to my bathroom and before I knew it, I was on the bathroom floor, throwing up into the toilet. I felt like absolute shit. My head was killing me. And then I realized.

I drank way too much last night. I went to a party with Travis and I got drunk. I needed help. And the first person that popped into my head was Nessa. I grabbed my phone that sat on the sink counter and I texted Vanessa, as I sat against the wall.

Me- hey can u plz come over

She responded shortly after.

Vanessa- um ok what's wrong?

Me- i don't feel too good

Vanessa- otw rn

Me- thank you

Vanessa's POV

I received the text from Mads, and I sprang up from the couch. I grabbed my coat, putting on my shoes.

"Where are you going?" Cami asked, looking up from her phone.

"Um..no where," I lied. She rolled her eyes.

"You suck at lying. Seriously, where are you going?" she laughed.

"Mads place," I said quietly. She raised her eyebrow.

"Is that so?"

"Yes..okay I need to go," I said opening the door.

"Take my car," she smiled.

"No..it's okay, I'll just take an Uber," I said.

"Vanessa just take the car. Now go get your girl," she winked as she tossed me the car key. I sighed, closing the door.

Awhile later

I knocked on Mads apartment door, feeling nervous. I heard the door unlock as she opened it, revealing her tired self. She weakly smiled at me as she let me in. Her apartment was cute and tidy. I watched her as she closed the door and stood there, looking at me.

"Are you okay?" I asked. She looked pale and sick, as she shook her head. And then before I could say anything else, she ran past me to the bathroom. I heard her begin to throw up. I set down my things and took off my jacket and shoes, slowly coming into the bathroom. She was bent over, throwing up. I knelt down next to her, pulling her hair back slowly.

"It's okay..just breathe," I said. She eventually stopped, panting while leaning her head against the wall. I grabbed a towel and applied water to it and then sat down next to her as I gently wiped her mouth. She struggled to say thank you and I smiled. Even when sick, she was still the prettiest girl in the world.

"It's gonna be okay," I said. She nodded and sat there, as I cleaned her up.

"I'm gonna get in the shower," she said finally. She slowly stood up, as I helped her. I left the bathroom as I listened to her turn on the shower and close the door. I opened the windows, letting light and a cool breeze enter the room. After awhile, Mads finally exited the bathroom. Her hair was now dry and she was wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants. She smiled at me as she sat down on the bed.

"You feeling better?" I asked. She nodded. I quickly went into her kitchen and came back with a glass of water, handing it to her. She smiled at me and sipped it.

"I..I should probably get going then," I said. She looked up at me and shook her head.

"No..please stay," she said. I gave in and sat down next to her on the bed.

"Lay down with me please," she asked. I began to blush as I realized what she had just asked of me. I slowly laid down next to her. I knew she probably did stuff like this with her other friends, but I wasn't really used to this. She turned on her side towards me and I nervously did the same.

"Thank you Nessa," she said quietly.

"No problem," I smiled. She smiled back at me and it was at this exact moment when I realized how close our bodies were. I couldn't help but stare at her soft lips and her glowing eyes. But, then she sat up and grabbed the remote, turning on her TV. And then she did what I least expected.

She laid down, resting her head on my chest. I couldn't breathe, that's how nervous I was. She adjusted her body and rested her arm on my stomach. I casually wrapped my arm around her, hoping she wouldn't think of it as anything weird. Instead she just looked up at me and smiled. And I went soft. I wanted to kiss those pink lips of hers. I wanted to hold her in my arms, knowing she was mine.

I really really liked her.

"Why did you invite me? And not someone else..like Travis?" I quietly asked.

"Because..you're the only one that I feel safe around..the only one I feel calm around," she responded. She stared at me a little longer than I expected. Her eyes drifted to my lips, making me tense. But, then she turned back to the TV and I was left disappointed. After awhile, she eventually fell asleep. I listened to her quiet breathing and I felt comfort in knowing that she was okay. I knew I had to leave, so I slowly moved her arm off of me and pulled the blankets over her. I stood there watching her sleep for a moment until I bent down and kissed her soft forehead.

"I love you Mads," I said quietly and I left.

Madelaine's POV

I rested my head on Vanessa's chest. I wrapped my arm around her as I listened to her soft heart beats. She wrapped her free arm around me, making me blush. I felt safe in her arms. She was perfect to me. She made me feel a certain way that was unexplainable. I looked up at her, smiling. She was practically beaming.

"Thank you Nessa," I said.

"No problem," she responded.

"Why did you invite me? And not someone else..like Travis?" she finally asked.

I knew the exact answer to her question. "Because..you're the only one that I feel safe around..the only one I feel calm around." I realized what I had just said and I couldn't help but feel embarrassed. She probably thought I was weirdo. But, I felt my eyes drift to her lips. And that's when I felt the sudden urge..

To kiss her.

But, that was crazy. Because I wasn't into girls. I mean I have talked to Cami about it in the past. But, that was the past. So, why was I feeling this way now? I fought back the feeling to move closer to Nessa and I looked away. I was disappointed in myself because there was nothing or no one stopping me. Except for myself. But, I felt like I shouldn't be feeling this way. I eventually drifted off to sleep, my head still on Nessa's chest.

I began to wake up when I felt Nessa get up. I kept my eyes closed, too tired to open them as she pulled the covers over me. And that's when I felt her kiss me. On my head. It was a gentle, soft kiss. But, I couldn't help but blush like crazy. And just when I thought my heart couldn't take it, she whispered four single words.

"I love you Mads," and then I heard her walk away and the door finally close shut. Once I knew she was gone, I sat up quickly.

I love you Mads. Four words and a single kiss.

And my world had changed instantly.
