Safe wings

Chapter 30:

The next morning I wake up to Luke's empty bed. I am cold so I crawl out of bed and walk down stairs to get some coffee. I see some on the counter and I grab the warm mug holding it in my hands.

The back door opens and I see Luke fully dressed in a tight v-neck shirt and his jeans over his boots.

"Mornin' Luke" I say. He walks up to me and kisses my forehead.

"Good morning, I have a suprise for you today, can you be ready to leave in an hour?" He says wrapping his arms around my waist from the back.

"Sure where we going?" I ask.

He sets his head down on my shoulder as I sip my coffee.

"It's a suprise just wear jeans, some of my boots and my sweatshirt, it's fall now." he says.

I nod.

"Kay, be out within and hour." I say.

He kisses my cheek. "okay see you in an hour"

He releases me and goes back outside.

I finish my coffee and set the cup in the sink before running upstairs.

I pull on some jeans and a tee shirt before padding into Luke's room. I find some of his cowboy boots and slip them on. I see his brown and camo browning hoodie and I slip it over my head. I have a few more minutes before we leave so I comb my hair until it is in beachy waves.

I run outside and see the horse trailer. Luke has Trigger and Maya in it and I walk over and pet Triggers nose.

I am suddenly picked up from behind and I scream laughing. Luke sets me down. "Get it!" he says. I laugh and climb into the middle seat of the truck. He climbs into the drivers side and starts the truck. I instantly lean into his side and he wraps an arm loosely around my shoulders.

I quickly steal a kiss as he begins to drive down the road.

"Listen, today is for fun, but I have to tell you something okay?" he says.

I nod.

We drive for an hour until we reach a beautiful farm. He stops and then climbs out of the truck.

I climb out after him as he unloads the horses.

"Bareback?" I ask.

He nods.

He slides onto Maya and I jump onto trigger.

I follow him up a mountains trail until he stops turning to me. He motions for me to come to his side and I do.

"This was my grandads farm" he says. I smile.

"It's amazing." I say. He nods before pulling triggers reins so that Trigger and Maya are touching.

"We need to talk." he says. I nod and then he grabs my hand pulling my in front of him onto Maya. Instantly I move forward so that I am straddling him and I lean up on my hands.

"Yes?" I ask.

He kicks Maya and holds triggers reins in one of his hands.

"Listen, I only have a few more days here, before I go back to Luisiana for school, this is our summer home, but then I have to go to the ranch in Luisiana for senior year and so I can work. My parents will be leaving too." he says. I hug him buring my head into his chest.

"And well, I know you have to stay here, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to come see you again. I want you to stay in the house where I live now, and go to school. I'll text you everyday okay?" he says. I softy cry.

"Luke, I'll miss you so much" I whisper.

He pulls me so that we are complety touching.

"I'll miss you to but I have to, I'm sorry. I love you okay?" He says tugging at the ends of my hair. I sigh and wrap my arms around him until he leans down kissing me. I move my hands to softly tug at his shirt. He smiles through our kiss and then quickly breaks apart to pull his shirt off.

He instantly tosses his shirt at me and I crack up before he kisses me again.

I loop one arm around his neck and draw small shapes on his chest with the other hand.

When he finally pulls away I lay my head on his chest.

"Do you have to go?" I ask quietly.

He takes my hands in his and lifts my chin up making me stare into his eyes.

"I have to. Just for the school year then I will be back I promise and then I won't ever leave you again. I love you so much. I will visit over the school year I promise." he says before kissing my cheek.

"Promise?"

"Promise" he says wrapping me in a hug and I relax against his bare chest.

We ride for the rest of the day and then Luke loads up the horses and we sit on a large rock to look at the sunset.

"Alyssa?"

"Yes?"

"We are staying here for a week. That's 7/10 days I have left here. I got Austin's permission." he says. I look up at him.

"Thank you" I say before laying my head on his shoulder and leaning into him. He smiles wrapping his arm around me.
