Safe wings

Chapter 39:

We end up flipping the boat several times but overall we had fun. I sit in the water and Luke comes up behind me. He picks me up and runs downstream to a ravine. He climbs up pulling me with him. He sees a rope swing and smiles micheviously at me.

He grabs the rope swing and screams "ONE TWO THREE!" on three I wrap my legs around his waist and hug myself to his side having no choice as he still had one hand holding mine.

We swing out over the river and he lets go. We land with a huge splash and we both resurface laughing.

"Luke!" I laugh.

"You know that was fun" he says.

"I know I hate you" I try to keep a straight face.

"Oh come on babe you know you love me" he says.

I laugh and fall into his arms.

He hugs me tight to his chest and I look up into his eyes as he gazes down at me.

We burst out laughing as we stand looking at each other.

"GUYS! I GOT PICS ON THE CAMERA AND ON BOTH YOUR PHONES OF ALL OF THAT!" Trevor yells.

Luke breaks his eyes away and laughs as he sees the pictures on my phone.

Then the last one comes and it's me and him, the moment before Trevor came over. I smile.

"Thank you guys for a great day" I say

"We are gonna miss you" they smile sadly at me.

"No. Guys, I love you guys but keep the sappy stuff for later." I smile.

They smile back.

"To walmart we go to print pictures!" I say.

They all run to the canoes and then we walk home Izzy's hand is in my right hand and Luke's in my left.

When we get back to the house I run upstairs to my room and change. When I come out of the bathroom Luke is standing in my room.

"Hey Luke what's up?" I ask raising an eyebrow at him.

His face is worried and he looks upset.

"I'm just, I don't want to leave you, I'm worried about you being here alone." he says.

I walk to him as he sticks his hands in his pockets. I place my hands on his arms and look up at him.

"Luke I'm fine, I promise, I'll call you everyday, you can always text me, and you can always visit right? I love you, and trust me, I've stuck through a lot because I've trusted you and love you. Don't worry about me" I say kissing his cheeks.

"Let's go to walmart and print the pics then we can come home okay?"

"Okay" he says.

I grab his hand and we emerge from my room.

The boys and Izzy look at us.

"Let go!" Luke says faking a smile and raising his voice. I must be the only one to notice the pain and worry in his voice because the others jet up and run out the door.

I send a glance at Luke and he just kisses my forehead.

"It's okay" he says.

I nod. We walk out the door and Luke locks it.

We walk to the truck and I sit in the middle by him and Izzy is up against the passenger side door. I lean on Luke and he wraps an arm around me.

We drive to Walmart and then go in. Josh takes the camera to print photos for my album.

Suddenly Luke pokes me and says "your it" Izzy, Luke, and Trevor run in three different directions. I chase after Izzy and catch her quickly. She chases me towards Luke.

I run around Luke and he catches on and chases after me. I bump into someone and glance up at a hard cold evil face. I gulp and then run past Luke on my heels. Josh runs us with the pictures.

"Got them!" he says. We all stop and Ixzy tags Luke. I take off running and Luke catches me around the waist and pulls me backwards.

We laugh as an angry manager comes up.

"Get out!" he growls.

"What?" Luke asks.

"Out of my store all of you!" he hisses.

"Fine if we must" Luke says before picking me up and swinging me over his shoulders so that my feet are on one shoulder and my head on the other.

I wrap my arms around his neck and curl up so my face is in his neck.

Izzy smiles up at us.

"That was so much fun!" She says.

"Yeah, that's officially how to get thrown out of walmart" Trevor says.

"Get out of my store" Josh sasses.

I laugh. A small pain hits me because I know I will miss them all.

When we get to the truck Luke tosses me in and then climbs beside me. I lay on his shoulder and he leans down to kiss my forehead.

We drive home and when we get there we all go to separate rooms except for Luke. Luke comes to my room as it is 9:00.

I flop into bed and grab the tv remote. Luke sits beside me and pulls me into his lap. I lay my head in his shoulder and he kisses my forehead.

As I fall asleep I hear Luke whisper "I love you Alyssa."
