Safe wings

Chapter 23:

I blink rapidly trying to stay awake. It is 5:50 in the morning and I grab my phone.

There is a text "stay strong"

I smile and then put my phone back. I look stare at the door and it opens to Matt.

He glares at me before yanking me roughly to my feet.

"The easy way was tried last night. now you get the hard way." he hisses.

I scream loudly before he clasps a hand over my mouth.

"Shut up you little slut" he hisses in my ear.

I hear running through the halls as Matt begins to slowly kiss my neck again. Suddenly he drops me as a gun does off. I fall into a heap on the floor beside him and he lays groaning in pain.

I turn as strong arms pull me up and hug me.

"Are you okay?" The boy holding me as I struggle says with his lips tickling my ears.

I instantly relax and turn in his arms.

"Luke!" I scream wrapping my arms around him. He kisses my cheek.

"Did he do anything more than kiss your neck?" he asks.

"No Luke."

"Good because he would be dead if he did." Then Luke shoots Matt's foot and we walk out to the car.

"The police are coming for your parents and I'm sure Matt too" Luke says as I see his mom sitting in the backseat of his truck holding the twins.

"My phone and dagger!" I say suddenly.

"No worries my princess, mum got then for you." he says pressing his lips to my ear.

I climb into the truck and sit in the middle next to Luke. My vision is still black and my head is spinning so I lay my head on Luke's shoulder and let the blackness overtake me.

Luke's POV:

As I get mum and the twins out I hear a female scream. I tell mum to go to the truck and then I run down the hallway. I see Matt holding Alyssa and kissing her neck with their backs to me. He has a hand snaked around her and one over her mouth. I shoot Matt and he falls and drops Alyssa. She falls to a heap crying. I walk and pull her up snaking my arms around her waist. She struggles and claws at my arms so I whisper in her ear "are you okay?".

I brush my lips on her ear.

She immediately relaxes at my voice. She turns and wraps her arms around me screaming "Luke!" I kiss her cheek.

"Did he do anything more than kiss your neck?" I ask.

"No Luke." she says.

"Good because he would be dead if he did." I say then shoot him in the foot. We walk out to the car an I explain that the police are coming. She remembers her phone and dagger but I remind her that I had them.

As she climbs in she sits in the middle and lays her head on my shoulder. Her body looses all tension and she is knocked out. She couldn't fight the blackness anymore.

"Mom, she's passed out" I say.

"I'll call the hospital and tell them to get ready, what's her story on hurt this bad?"

"Horse fall down the side of mountains"

Mum instantly calls the hospital and I start the truck and begin to drive home. I kiss her forehead.

"Stay strong for me princess." I whisper.

After mum gets off the phone she falls asleep.

I drive fast so that we get to our local hospital in an hour. I wake mum up and she walks with me to take Lyssie in.

I take her in and the doctor says "she is in a coma, she has a small broken rib, and her back will heal in time. for now all we can do is wait."

I nod and kiss her forehead.

"I have to take my mom home, I will be back" I say. the doctor nods and I take mum home and she smiles "you don't need to watch over me now, go be with her, text me when you can. I love you." she says hugging me. I nod.

"Thanks mum" I say.

She smiles and I go back to the truck and drive quickly to the hospital.

I sit in a chair on lyssies bedside and caress her hand.

"I'm so sorry Alyssa, I'm so sorry I should have been there." I say tears threatening to come.
