The Young Avengers: Not Kids Anymore [2]

-Adoption Day-

After a late night of patrol, Emma was woken up by Pepper. She was aware of her legal guardians crashing over at her place that night. She was told by Pepper that they were meeting with the judge at two thirty so she needed to get ready.

Emma dragged herself out of bed, groaning. She was not only tired from patrol but was emotionally tired from therapy.

Emma walked to her closet. She opened the large walk-in closet to look at her options. She reached over and grabbed a nice white button up shirt, she held it in front of her as she looked at her mirror. She made a face but then reached over for black skinny jeans that matched the button down.

Emma tossed the clothes on her bed as she went into the closet for shoes. She found a pair of heel boots and even found a bow to tie around her neck for accessories. Once gathering everything, she went into the shower to wash off last nights experience off of her.

Upon exiting the bathroom, she was all clean and dressed all nice. Her hair was straighten, and she even wore her contacts instead of glasses. Some makeup on, mostly to cover up the slight bruise near her scar on her forehead.

She grabbed her cellphone, seeing it was eleven o'clock. She then headed out of her room, and down to the kitchen. Once she reached the kitchen and living room, she sees Pepper in a nice light blue dress with flats on. Despite being two months pregnant, the dress made it seem like she was further along.

Tony was adjusting his tie in the reflection of the window.

"Nervous?" Emma's voice startled Tony.

Tony turns around, "No," He looks at her, "My, do you look like such a young lady."

Emma smiles, "Oh ha ha." She said.

Tony had a grin on his face as he tucks his hands into his pants pockets, "Are you nervous, kid?"

Emma shakes her head, "I've faced worst." She grins.

"Right," He says.

Pepper steps over, "Tony and I were thinking after we are in court, that we go out to dinner to celebrate." She said.

Emma  turns to Pepper with a smile, "I'd like that."

"Will you two promise to take the responsibility to care for this young lady as if she were your own?" The judge asks.

Standing in front of the stand was the three of them. Tony and Pepper stood on one side of Emma, and she was in the middle. Both adults held onto one of Emma's hands. The three all looking at the judge.

"We will," Tony said.

"And in signing these documents today, Emma Sterling will no longer be Emma Sterling. She'll become Emma Stark, and have all the rights given to her as any ordinary child with their parents." The judge said.
