*photo above is what I picture the house in this chapter to look like*
Tiberius turned onto a long driveway, a massive house looming in the distance. Tiberius had been oddly silent since he mentioned the pit stop before we had left his apartment. That had been almost three hours ago. He hadn't mentioned where we were stopping or why only muttered that it was important, nothing more nothing less.
The closer we drove to the house, the more details I could see. And the bigger it became. The 'house' was more like a mansion and was a light cream colour with white trim and a grey slate roof. Windows covered the outer walls and columns of marble held up the roof of the front porch. The landscaping was well kept and crystal clear water poured from the water fountain that stood in the middle of the driveway.
"This place is beautiful," Fabian observed, eyes filled with awe.
"This is where dreams come to die." Tiberius snapped a cold bitterness in his voice and eyes. "Trust me when I say we aren't staying long."
Tiberius opened his car door and climbed out. He gestured for us to follow as he marched toward the front door. Sage, Fabian and I unbuckled our seatbelts and hastily ran after Tiberius.
He stood at the base of the porch waiting for us, the bitterness on his face clearly visible from miles away. Tiberius turned back to the porch and walked up the steps. He didn't bother to knock, just waltz straight inside like he owned the place.
"Zarriah!" He called out into the silent house. "Zarriah, I know you're home, I need to speak with you!"
The house was eerily silent as we all stood in the foyer. There was nothing in this room except for a large wooden staircase, a doorway in the walls either side and medium-sized table with a potted plant sat on top. Tiberius sighed and made to leave when a voice spoke up.
                              "Tiberius?"
Tiberius whipped around to face the man standing in the doorway to the left. He had the same dark hair as Tiberius but he had pale crystal blue eyes. He was a bit paler than Tiberius but he was more muscular and a bit older looking too.
                              "Julius." Tiberius sneered. "Where's Zarriah."
"She's not here at the moment," Julius smirked. "She had a meeting in town."
"When will she be back?" Tiberius questioned.
"Why do you care?" Julius countered.
Tiberius was quiet for a moment before answering. "I'd much rather talk to our sister than someone who tends to skip out on their family when they need him most."
"Come now, little brother, " Julius groaned. "You can't still be mad that I don't support you in your pointless little escapade?"
Tiberius quirked a brow. "I don't see how a life or death prophecy comes under the 'pointless little escapade' category."
"You know what I mean." Julius reasoned. "You're constantly moving around all the time. We haven't seen you in over a year."
                              "Like you care." Tiberius spat.
"You're right. I don't care." Julius sighed. "Not anymore at least."
Julius walked away into the doorway behind him. Tiberius was quick to follow after him, the three of us not far behind. We entered a large living room, filled with two white leather couches, a glass coffee table, some paintings and a fireplace. There was a fire in the fireplace but it was silent, making absolutely no noise. It was real though as the room was warm and got warmer the closer you stood to the fireplace.
"Not anymore?" Tiberius leered. "You've never cared! You've left us multiple times over the last seven hundred years and not once have you ever been lectured about loyalty or family because we know it won't make any difference! You don't care about anyone but yourself! We didn't hear from you in over fifteen years and you didn't even bother to show up to your own father's funeral! You just pushed us all away and didn't talk to any of us until it suited you!"
Julius clenched his jaw, the same fire I had seen in Tiberius' eyes ignited.
"I'm not the only one who pushed people away, Tiberius," Julius said lowly. "Or have you forgotten why your beloved Lydia left you?"
Tiberius snarled and launched himself at his brother, tackling him to the floor. They struggled on the floor for a moment before Tiberius pinned him down, straddling his stomach. He had Julius' hands pinned above his head and he was just staring at him, the anger clear on his face.
Julius began to struggle to breathe, his face fading from his natural skin tone to pale pink to an angry red.
"Lydia didn't leave me because I pushed her away," Tiberius growled. "She left because...because..."
Tiberius trailed off, the anger leaving him and sadness quickly replacing it. Julius took advantage of the situation, pushing Tiberius off of him. He scrambled to his feet and flicked his hand, sending Tiberius flying across the room. Tiberius hit the mantle on the fireplace and crashed to the floor with a groan.
"What is it with these guys and throwing people into painful looking objects?" Fabian winced.
"No idea," Sage replied, his face screwed up in pain. "But I can feel that. Metaphorically."
"Tell me, little brother," Julius began. "Why did Lydia leave you? Did she come to her senses and realise what a colossal screw-up you are? Or did she just fall for somebody else?"
Tiberius went to push himself up off the floor but Julius just pushed him back down. I looked to Sage, wondering if we should intervene. He shook his head.
                              "Julius!"
A girl with pastel teal hair that faded into a deep teal, tan skin and the same pale eyes as Julius marched across the room to the brothers and ripped Julius away from Tiberius.
"You touch him or bring up Lydia again and I will bring our mother back from the dead just so she can kick your ass." She threatened.
Julius backed off with a grunt, disappearing out of the door and up the stairs. The girl bent down to help Tiberius up, giving him a light hug once he had managed to stand without falling.
"I'm sorry about him, Ti." She smiled sweetly. "He's just angry with the world as per usual."
"It fine, Zar." Tiberius returned the same sweet smile.
He turned to us and quickly introduced the girl as his sister, Zarriah.
"You're not staying are you?" Zarriah quietly asked Tiberius.
"No, I'm afraid I can't," Tiberius replied sadly. "The prophecy's started."
"Then you have a lot of work to do." Zarriah stood up straighter. "What do you need?"
"Mother's grimoire." Tiberius requested. "I can't do this without her spell book."
"Then I'll get it for you." Zarriah agreed. "But it might take some time. I recently moved her's and father's things up into the attic while I have the library renovated. I hope you don't mind?"
"Not at all." Tiberius smiled again. "Just keep Julius away from me."
                              "Always."
