chapter 20

Hailee's pov.

"What happend in that month?" stacie asks me. What happend? What didn't happen is the better quistion. "A lot off stuff happend. I had a few suplies but not much when i walked away on my own. I think that i had one full water bottle and about five cookies. I'm not sure tho. Could be more or less. I had a small pocket knife and these clothes except the leather jacket. I grabbed this from a walker two weeks before you guys found me.  I walked a lot the first few weeks. I was trying to find a town. It was dangerous tho. There were a lot off walkers around me and i probably killed about fifteen walkers a day. I was getting desperate because i didn't have any food or water left. Then i heard someone screaming. I rushed towards the sound. And saw a dead kid with a walker bite on it's stomache and a woman next to him with a gun raised at him. Next to them was a man bjt he didn't see the walker coming up behind him. I could have said something but for some reason i didn't. The walker bit him and the woman shot the walker. She was crying so much and i was about to go and talk to her, but then she suddenly grabbed the gun and shot herself in her head. I threw up when i saw that. I quickly took my knife and made sure that the kid and husband weren't going to come back alive. I checked if they had anything usefull and they had. They had food and water that could last me for about three weeks. I grabbed it all and i also took the gun. I felt guilty because they weren't even dead for five minutes and i robbed them. After that i just kept on walking and walking until suddenly you guys come towards me with max and tell me that you are friends with my big sister who i've never met before. That's one off the best moments off my life!" i say. I sigh and don't look at the others. I really blame myself for the couple their death. I couldn't have saved the kid, but i could have saved the man. And maybe then the woman wouldn't have shot herself. There would still be someone there for her. I was in the same boat as her once. About two days after that i ran out of suplies. I didn't tell them that because nothing happend! I didn't do it. After that i watched them die i had that though again. Would it be that bad to be dead? I just ignored it that time. The only thing that i felt was guilt because of that couple. "Stop doing that." aubrey suddenly says. I frown and look at her. "Stop doing what?" i ask her. She looks at me and raises her eyebrow. "You are blaming yourself because of their death. You don't know what would have happend if you tried to help. Stop thinking about the past and look foreward. You are strong, hailee. Beleive me. That wasn't your fault." aubrey says. Am i that easy to read? I sigh and nod. I guess that i can try to let it go. I don't know how i could ever do that tho.

??? Pov.

Sean left with a small team to look if the subject is still in jake his brother's house. I don't think that theh are still there but there must have been a fight there. Jake and his guards went there. I hope that we find some clues about the subject. Or somd guards. Then they can just tell us what's going on. They could tell us if the subject is alive. If there really was someone alive then i don't think that they will be healthy enough to talk tho. It's been about a week or something. There is a chance that they are alive tho! Well, if the zombies didn't eat them. I look down at the folders infront off me. Jake kept a lot of information in his office. I didn't even know most of the stuff that's in here! Like what they did to the subject and her friends. Apperently jake was about to rape the subject her girlfriend. There are no names tho. Not even the subject's name is in here! I don't think that one off the guards knows either. That's a shame. There is usefull information about the powers off the subject tho. If jake got a real scientist to look at it, then he would have known that she was getting to strong, too fast. And he even has some vage pictures off the subject using her power to escape. She knocked out about twenty men with just using one hand! How did jake even think that it was a good idea to only bring ten guards when he clearly knows how strong she is? That doesn't make sense. Was he just being stupid? He probably thought that he had the perfect plan and that nothing could go wrong. That sounds like jake. It sounds a lot like him. I wonder how sean is doing. He's one of my favorites. He actually reminds me of my daughter. Well, not really. My daughter was more like a rebel. But she always had manners. That's something that i'm proud off. I wonder how she's doing. Is she okay? Is she even alive?
