chapter 4

Beca's pov.

"Is there anything else that we need to talk about?" i ask the group.

Hailee raises her hand.

"Yeah, what's up?" i ask her.

"What about water? I know that we are going to have food soon but we are going to run out of clean water. What about that?" hailee asks me.

"We can just filter the water. Then we do have clean water. We have a whole lake to drink." i say with a smirk.

"How are you going to filter water? Do you even know how to?" max asks me.

I shrug and look at him.

"I used to watch this kind of stuff on youtube. I even tried it out once. It works." i say.

"How do you do that?" flo asks me.

"It's easy. I'll show you. Can someone bring me an empty bottle?" i ask.

Ashley stands up and walks towards the kitchen. She comes back a minute later with an empty bottle. She gives it to me and i smile at her.

"Let's go outside. We will need the lake to show how it works." i tell the group.

I stand up and walk outside with the others following me. I sit down next to the lake and pull my knife out.

"The first thing that we need to do is cut the bottle's base evenly to create a cone shape." i say while cutting in the bottle.

"Then we need to get a filter material for the bottom of the bottle." i say while holding up the neck part of it.

"We can use pebbles or cotten. Three inches of the material should be enough. We should probably use pebbles." i say.

Lily runs of and comes back with the right amount of pebbles.

"Then we need to add gravel to the filter material. The purpose of this is to prevent sand from getting in the water that we filterd." i say.

The group nods at my explenation.

"Next we fill the cone shaped bottle with sand." i say while doing it.

I grab some water from the lake with my tin can and pour it in the bottle. When the water comes out it is clean.

Chloe's pov.

"The water is clean." i say. 

Beca nods.

"I know some other ways as well but this is the best one that i know." beca says.

"That's impressive. How does the water taste?" aubrey asks beca.

Beca gently pulls the top part off and gives aubrey the water.

"You tell us." beca says.

Aubrey takes the water and looks at it for a moment.

"It looks clean." aubrey mumbles.

She shrugs and takes a sip from the water. Her eyes widen.

"Holy shit! This is actualy really good. Even better then the bottled water." aubrey says.

We all laugh a little and shake our heads at her reaction. Beca stands up.

"Now that we have sorted that problem out we can start on the walls." beca says.

We all nod and beca gives the filter bottle to aubrey.

"Stacie, do you have some axe's or something like that to use?" beca asks stacie.

"I think that i have one. I'm going to look for it." stacie says.

She runs inside while the rest of us follows beca.

"We don't need too much space so the wall doesn't need to be too big." beca mumbles.

"I can use my werewolf strenght to cut down trees?" max says.

Beca turns around and shakes her head.

"I want you to go patrole right now. If you see a walker, kill it." beca says.

Max nods and goes inside to change. Just then we see stacie walking up to us.

"Hey guys! I found the axe." stacie says.

Beca nods and smiles a little.

"That's great. We are going to need a few trees. I would say about fifty or something like that. Maybe we should first cut them down and then make the wall." beca says.

We all nod in agreement.

Aubrey's pov.

Beca takes the axe from stacie.

"We should work in a four men group and switch every hour. Two people who switch cutting down trees while the other two drag the trees behind the cabin. Sounds good?" beca asks.

We all nod.

"Okay. First group will be me, chloe, stacie and aubrey. Second will be hailee, emily, flo and lily. Third will be fat amy, ashly, jessica and mindy. Is that okay for everyone?" beca asks.

We all nod again and she smiles.

"Alright. First group will start while you guys either relaxe or do something usefull. Now go." beca says.

Everyone leaves exept for me, stacie and chloe.

Chloe crossed her arms and is glaring at beca.

"No way that you are going to work right now." chloe says in a stern voice.

Beca lifts an eyebrow and looks at her.

"I'm pretty sure that i am going to work right now. I'm in first group." beca says.

Chloe shakes her head.

"Are you out of your mind? You have a fever, beca. You're sick!" chloe says.

Beca sighs.

"I'm feeling fine. We need to get this wall up and everyone has to help. I can't go back to bed now. And it's only for an hour. I can handle that. I'll cut down the trees to make sure that nothing goes wrong. I can use my powers if needed. You are pretty strong so you should help carry the trees behind the house. Stacie, you are big so you can help chloe. You can come with me aubrey." beca says.

Stacie smirks.

"Everyone here is big for you shorty." stacie says.

Beca glares at her.

"You guys are just giants." beca says.

We all laugh.

"Let's cut some trees down." beca says.

She walks towards the first tree and we follow.

"Hey, aubrey?" chloe says.

I look at her.

"Yeah? What's up?" i ask her.

"Can you keep an eye out for beca. It's just with her fever and-" chloe says before i interupt her.

"It's ok. I get it. I'll keep an eye out." i say.

Chloe smiles at me and i smile back.
