chapter 29

Beca's pov.

I stretch my arms above my head with a smile. I'm glad that CR told me about the piano. I somehow missed it when i came down here to beat that punching bag. It was a bit hidden tho and it had some junk on it. I stand up and walk upstairs. "Hey beca. You okay?" ashley asks. I smile at her and nod. "More then okay. Are the girls back yet?" i ask. Ashley shakes her head. "Well, it's still kind of early. If they take enough rest then they should only reach the town tomorrow. They still have time." i say. Ashley raises her eyebrow. "What happend to make you think so positive?" ashley asks with a small smile. I smile back at her. "Chloe happend. I don't know why i never chose her to begin with. I wasted three years of my life on that asshole. I never even loved him! I should have asked chloe out sooner." i say. Ashley smiles and nods. "Well, now that the wall is finished and we only need a gate, we can take a break to plan how you are going to propose to chloe." ashley says. My smile gets bigger when i think about it. "I only need a ring to propose, right?" i ask. Ashley nods. I reach behind my neck to get my necklace of. It's not a real necklace tho. It's a piece of rope with my grandmoms wedding ring on it. She gave it to me when she was dying. "Is this good?" i ask ashley. Ashley smiles and nods. "That's perfect."

Chloe's pov.

"Aubrey and stacie, you take the left side of the shop. Emily and hailee, you take the right. I'll go trough the middle. Only use your guns when it's an emergency. Try to use your knife. We don't want to alert more walkers." they all nod and we spread out. I have my knife in my hand and gun in my pants where i can easily grab it. I search trough the middle aisles but see no walkers. I look at the other girls. "Are we clear?" i whisper. They all nod. I notice that there is a door for staff. "You guys start to loot the shop. Take everything that looks usefull. I'll check out what's behind that door." i whisper to them. They nod again and they quitly spread out to loot the shop. I walk towards the staff door and open it. It's a hallway with a door at the end. I pull my flashlight out so that i can see something. I slowly walk towards the door. It looks like a freezer or something. I open the door and smile when i notice that it isn't locked. I slowly step inside and look around. There is nothing here. No meat. Nothing. Well, it's still better then a dozen of walkers. I walk towards the others and smile when i realise their backpacks are almost full. "Guess that this shop is good enough. Help me get some suplies into my backpack. Then we can leave." i say. They all nod and with their help, my backpack is full in about five minutes. "Okay guys. Let's head home!" i say. We step out of the shop and notice some walkers far away. "Let's make a run for it." stacie says. I look at her and nod. I put my fingers up and count down from three. We all run in the forest.

Ashley's pov.

"I can't beleive that we finished that wall so quickly." beca says. All the girls are downstairs with us to eat. It's a sunny day today but winter is coming soon. It will be hard to go on runs then and the food won't grow if it is too cold. "Yeah, who's fault is it that we finished it that quickly? You didn't stop cutting trees for about three days. And that power of yours was a huge help aswell! We didn't have to lift any of the poles." CR says to beca. Beca shakes her head. "We all did our part. Some worked less on the wall because they were taking care of the food and water. Flo took care of the farm and the two boys were patroling all day. This is the first time that they get a proper rest. And alison has been helping aswell. She was studing some plants to see wich we could use for medical stuff and other things." beca says. I can see that some of the bellas are suprised with the way beca was acting. Normally she isn't this happy or positive. Flo and i or the only ones who know why she's so happy. We look at eachother and smirk. "Damn cap. What made you so positive? Is chloe rubbing of on you?" CR asks. Beca shrugs. "Could be. And why not be a little positive? We are moving forward. Things are looking great. We have a house where we are safe. Food and water for days, and i haven't seen a walker in almost four days! Things are looking good." beca says.

Lily's pov.

Haven't seen a walker in about four days? That's a little strange, isn't it? I mean, i know that the boys were busy keeping them out but by now there should be some walkers near the wall. Something isn't right. Maybe i should head out and see what's going on. Should i ask someone to come with me? Maybe not. I don't want them to be in danger. I should tell someone that i'm heading out tho. I know that they will worry if no one knows where i am. I should tell ashley. She's trust worthy. I stand up from my chair and walk towards ashley. "Can i talk to you for a sec?" i whisper to her. She looks at me and smiles. She stands up and walks to the living room. "What's wrong?" ashley asks me. "I don't trust the fact that none of us has seen a walker in about four days. I'm going out to check if everything is still okay. I wanted somebody to know so you don't have to worry. Can you tell them after that i'm gone for half an hour? If they ask earlier you can say it." i ask ashley. She sighs. "Yeah, i don't trust that either. I know that you are a smart and strong girl so i'll let you go. But if you are not back in two hours then i will search for you. Okay?" ashley says. I smile and nod. Ashley gives me a hug. "Stay safe." she says.
