DAY: 136
Lark
Well, awhile after I announced the news to Bucky, Natasha showed herself. And I had to put away that urge to chew her out for her scheming. She seemed pleased with herself as she sat in the room with us, congratulating Bucky as he cried happy tears.
When there was a solid break in our gentle celebration, Natasha informed us that we'd have to change locations. And soon. Hydra knew where we were, how many people we traveled with in our groups and the amount of fire power we had. We'd have to lower our group numbers and scatter. Not the brightest of ideas of it'd limit casualties if anyone was caught or abducted.
Bucky and I had to figure everything out so quickly, we didn't have time to rest when we were ushered out of the infirmary towards the stairwell and ramps. I was tired and hungry, ready to sleep for a solid age. Bucky was pulled away to help load in the ammunition rounds from the garage, Steve assured me he'd have him back in one piece.
Remy then appeared and offered to be my escort; more or less offering to help an injured girl waddle to the surface and hiss at the sunlight.
"They're packing up the truck's outside." Remy told me as he walked me up to the ramp. "You guys heading off?"
"We're leaving to keep other people safe here. You guys don't exactly pose as much a threat to Hydra as our unit does.
"And you do? Ouch, that's painful." he joked. I shoved his arm and he grinned. "So... heard the news, about you and Bucky making up with each other."
"Yeah, bet that traveled fast. Who told you?" I asked him.
"Natasha did." he answered. "And maybe a little more than that."
"So you know about the other thing then." I let out an irritated sigh. "Everyone was going to find out anyway sooner or later."
"So how far along are you?" he asked. I had noticed that our pace slowed as we talked.
"Almost three months. Banner checked." I answered him.
"So not long before you start blowing up like a balloon." he said, "That'll be a sight."
"You making fun of me?" I could help but smile.
"Not intentionally." he answered. "Just the whole thought of you becoming a mother hasn't really hit me yet. I mean, I still see you as a 'kick-your-ass-for-flirting' type of gal."
"What's to feel bad about? That was probably one of my better days where I wasn't trying to get into a fight on my own." he told me. "I like to think that it was a close call of me seeing the real deal."
"Trust me, you haven't seen anything yet." I told him.
We neared the exit, from where we were I could see Bucky helping load large cargo into the back of a pick-up.
"Hey, can we quit walkin' for a second." Remy grabbed my arm and stopped me.
"Something wrong?" I asked him.
"Nothin's wrong, I just wanted to tell you something for a minute." he answered with a shake of his head. "You know you always have a place here, right? No matter what happens you will. We have room, we have resources and we're more than capable of handling a small Hydra army. If something goes wrong, with anything, or you just need a shoulder to cry on I'm right here where I'll always be."
"That's real nice of you, Remy." I smiled at him. "Thank you." I leaned up and kissed his cheek. When I stepped back he was blushing bright red, but grinning at the ground.
