It wasn't often that I would much rather be doing something else than working, but I really wanted to see luke. We hadn't spoken for a few days, and though I could easily go to his house, I didn't want to seem attached, or needy.
I just wanted to spend time with him. He helped me realize that I could be doing so much more with my life, that I could be so much more.
It made me wonder more about what I was going to do, if I was going to work here for he rest of my life, or if I was going to actually do something.
What I wanted in life had been clear to me; I had wanted a husband, a child, and a caring family. That's all that mattered.
But now, I want to accomplish something. I want to make my life worth something.
I spent the three days that luke and I hadn't talked thinking about that. Family was obviously still important to me, I just wanted something more.
It surprised me when luke walked through the door, holding two books in his hands.
"Hey." He smiles, setting them down.
"Hey." I say, mocking him. "What's up?"
"You get off of work soon, right?" He asks, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"Yeah. Why?" I question.
"I want to do something." He says, walking around the other side of the counter, leaning against it.
"Like what?"
"I'm not sure." He whines, looking towards the ceiling.
"I'm still up for the movie thing." I suggest.
"Alright. We can do that." He says, smiling at me.
-4:30-
Luke sticks the key into the door handle, moving it around a bit before the door opens.
"My roommate shouldn't be here, so it will be alittle less annoying." Luke laughs, shutting the door behind me as we walk in.
"You have a roommate?" I question, setting my bag down on the coffee table.
"Yeah, he's probably-" he begins, and freezes when someone yells;
"Luke?!"
"Yeah." Luke sighs.
"You're home!" He yells, walking through a door to what I'm guessing is a hallway. "And you've brought a girl!"
"Yeah, this is-" luke begins again, motioning towards me.
"Oh, I already know who this is." The unknown man laughs. "Noel, right?"
I nod, looking at the curly haired man.
"Finally! I've heard about you!" He says, walking closer, and pulls me (a little too forcefully) into a hug.
"Yeah, we're just about to watch a movie. So..." Luke whispers the last part, looking towards the door, and than back at the man, who's name I still hadn't gotten.
"Oh, I see... You want to be alone." He says, looking back and forth at luke and I.
"Yeah, that would be nice." Luke laughs.
"Alright, I guess I'll see you later." He smirks, grabbing a bottle of something off of the table, and walking towards the hallway again.
"Sorry, that was just my roommate, Ashton. I would have thought he'd be at work." Luke mumbles, messing with the CD's on the table.
"I thought you said you didn't talk to much of your friends." I say, more out of curiosity then nosey-ness.
"Yeah, well, Ashton was the oldest in our group. He is also, the only other one that hasn't had kids or hasn't gotten married." Luke laughs. "We were kinda stuck together. Not that I'm complaining, it's a lot easier with him around."
"It's nice that you have a friend from a while ago that still talks to you." I say. Lately I've been worrying about luke, considering he doesn't really talk about anyone else, and he didn't seem to talk to anyone except me.
"Yeah, I guess it is." He sighs, standing straight up with four movies in his hands. "So Thor, Mean girls, Finding Nemo, Or Saw?"
