"El, please talk to me." Luke whines, taking one of his hands off of the steering wheel to flick a Piece of her hair.

"About what?" I question, rolling my eyes.

"Anything, please? I'm bored." Luke mumbles, turning the radio down a bit.

"Anything?" I question, looking over to him.

"Yeah." He says, smiling slightly.

"What did you really do when I left the other day?" I ask, turning my attention towards the window.

"What do you mean?" He says, laughing slightly.

"When I left. I had a question about one of the books, and I went over. Ashton said that you told him you were coming to my house, so I went home. I stayed up for, like, five and a half hours just to be disappointed." I say, muttering the last part.

"Look, El, I'm sorry." Luke says, reaching for my hand in my lap. "I was just trying to get away from Ashton a bit, I had a lot of shit to think about."

"Like what?" I question. I don't ask because I'm doubting him, I'm just generally curious.

"Well, looks like we're here." Luke sighs, opening the driver's side door, and stepping out of it.

I take a second to look around, taking in the different trees and graveled roads.

It looked a lot like the place like had taken me to with the pond, but when we left we had went in to he opposite direction, and he would have told me if we were going there.

There seemed to be a look out, The colored sky making it even prettier than it must usually be.

"What is this place?" I question, walking closer to the look out, leaning against the railing.

"I came here yesterday." He says, taking the same position as me.

I looked over at him, the question clearly very present on my futures.

"For what?" I ask.

"I told you, I was thinking." He says, shaking his head slightly.

I nod. He seems to be upset, and I don't want to bombard him with questions.

"El, you can ask." He mumbles, finally looking over to meet my eyes. "You already did."

"Okay.." I mumble, walking a bit closer to him. "What were you thinking about, Luke?"

"You know, El," He begins, slightly sighing to himself. "Everyone has a purpose. They all do. Even the old garbage man, people depend on him. They need him." He says, laughing a bit and looking down.

"Yeah?" I say, not quite understanding what he's talking about.

He shakes his head, looking back up. "People don't need me like they need other people, El." He mumbles.

"What are you talking about?" I question, raising my eyebrows at him.

"The only person who really needs me is probably Ashton. He wouldn't be able to afford our place without me."

"People need you, Luke." I say, thinking off how silly it is for him to think otherwise.

"Like who, El?" Luke says, laughing a bit.

"Well, I'm just going to throw out an obvious one, here." I mumble. "Me. I need you. You know that."

"You don't need me, El." Luke says. "People move on, and that's exactly what you would do if I wasn't here. And don't you dare tell me it's not, because we're both way too fucking smart to think anything otherwise." Luke says, shaking his head.
