The sun coming through my window at seven AM wasn't exactly my ideal awakening.
It was even worse when I had glanced at my phone to see nothing but a text from one of my friends.
I was feeling extremely alone, and I'll I wanted was for Luke to come over and tell me that I wasn't alone.
But knowing that wasn't going to happen, I quickly unlocked my phone, reading my text.
'Hey, do you work today?'
Of coarse I worked today, but I saw no harm in taking the day off. Since the book store was a self run thing, I could take the day off if I pleased.
'No, you can stop by if you'd like.'
I typed, switching the conversation over to Luke's.
I didn't want to bother him, especially since he was supposedly coming over yesterday, and was no where to be seen.
I typed a quick 'Hey' and stared at my phone screen.
He responded a few seconds later, the words 'Hi :-)' written a crossed the screen.
I stare at it in confusion, furrowing my eyebrows at the words.
He seems so casual, like nothing's wrong. But he doesn't know that Ashton told me he was supposed to come over, so he probably doesn't think anything is wrong.
I got a response from my friend, Maya, saying that she would be coming over in a few minuets.
I was trying to decide whether or not I should respond to Luke when she knocked on the door.
"Hey." I smile, opening my door for her to walk in.
"Hey, what's up?" She asks, setting down her bag.
"Nothing, really. What about you? Anything happen recently?"
"Nah, not really." She smiles.
After a minuet of silence, she raises her eyebrows at me, and says:
"Are you sure you're alright?"
"Well, there's actually something I wanted to ask you about." I admit, sitting down next to her on the couch.
I begin to tell her about Luke, and how he was supposed to come by last night, and then didn't.
"And now he's acting like nothing happened." I roll my eyes.
"What do you think happened?" She asks, furrowing her eyebrows at me.
"I'm not sure. But I'm not going to ask. I don't want to seem... Clingy." I mutter.
"Yeah, I can see where your coming from." She says. "Do you think he could be.. Like, Cheating?"
"No, Luke wouldn't do that. Plus, we haven't even talked about it. Even if he was seeing someone else, it wouldn't be cheating because we aren't exclusive." I say, putting all of my faith in the sentence.
"Did he text you?" She questions, looking over at my phone screen that is sat on the coffee table.
"Yeah." I mutter. I unlock my phone, opening his texts.
'Are you home?'
