ALANAS POV
I could finally go home. Awesome. I hate this place. As we were walking out I heard a beeping noise coming from Joseph's room. We walked in and saw that the heart monitor was beating normally. we just stood there frozen. I mean he wasn't awake yet though..... But his heart was beating.
"I told you he wasn't dead yet" Liberty said.
Just then the doctor came in. "Is there a problem girls?" he asked.
I tried to say something but I couldn't speak. I was happy and sad at the same time. I mean I was happy that his heart was beating normally, but I was sad that he wasn't awake.
"Um, no doctor" Liberty said.
Finally I could speak.
"Uh doctor if his heart is beating normally why isn't he awake. I mean is he like sleeping or something?" I asked.
"Well, See, your brother was beaten pretty badly around his head. So he has some brain damage. He should be out of his coma soon but still in a hospital bed." The doctor said.
"What's the difference?" I whispered to Liberty.
"I have no idea" she whispered back.
"The thing is, if he doesn't wake up soon we want to do brain surgery. But we don't know 100 percent if he will live or not. That's up to you." He said.
"Brain surgery?" Liberty asked.
The doctor nodded.
"But you said he probably won't wake up" I said.
"It's a shot worth taking" he said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Okay, if we don't do the brain surgery.... He's pretty much dead already. And if we do the brain surgery there's a chance he will die but also a chance that he will live" the doctor explained.
"So what are you saying?" I asked.
"I'm saying that if we don't do the brain surgery your brother is dead. Call me later and tell me your final answer." and with that he walked out.

(IN THE CAR)
"What are we gonna do?" Liberty asked me.
"We're gonna do the brain surgery" I informed her.
"What! Alana he probably won't live" she said.
"But there's a chance he might Liberty! and I'm willing to take that chance." I said.
"But why?" she asked.
"Because I've already lost one sibling, I won't lose another" I sighed.
We were finally home.
We walked inside and Iggy gave me the biggest hug.
"Oh my gosh I thought I lost you" she said.
"Nope. I have to tell you guys something" I said letting go of Iggy.
"About you?" jared asked.
"About Joseph" I said.

I told them everything.
"We have to do it" Iggy said.
"We have to save him" she cried.
"I know" I said.
"And we will" Liberty said.
