Rai was walking with his mother and sister as they were headed to the mall. Rai had just pass the entrance exam for U.A. high and he was being treated for a job well done. The plan for their night was to go to the mall, allow him to buy some new clothes and get at least three new games that caught the young boy's interest. Rai's mind was focused on a few things. Being able to attend U.A., if Mina and Izuku had passed as well, and thinking about how proud his father would be if he was here to see him. He made plans to visit his father's grave and have a little talk the next day. But for tonight, he was going to make sure he had a spectacular time at the mall.

An hour after they got there, it was already getting a little too pricey for Rai's mother. Rai had understood that he was going a little over board with the games he wanted. So he decided to get two games and a new controller, he only had one and he needed to have more of a variety of games for him and Izuku to play whenever they visited one another. Thankfully the two games he went for weren't out of his mother's price range and Rai had enough money to buy the controller. After that they decided to split up, Ms. Kusanagi gave Rai a nice amount of money for him just in case he found some clothes he wanted to buy. And with that, the three parted ways with Rai going one way and his mother and sister going the other. Now that he was on his own, he decided to put on his headphones and listen to music while he made his way to the arcade.

On his way there he started to think about how his life at U.A. would start. All kinds of scenarios played out in his head. He thought of being the one out of him, Mina, and Izuku being the only ones to go and how he would be completely alone for the first few days. Another one, be it a somewhat generic one, was him arriving at the school with Mina and how, given her playful and teasing nature, would drive all the guys at school, even the second and third years, to be jealous and out to get him. He definitely wouldn't be able to survive if that was the case. He would have to watch his back 24/7 and make sure he'd come home unscathed.

He wondered how the classes would be, what they would teach them and how they would go about training them in their journey to becoming pro heroes. The possibilities were endless and it made Rai nervous and excited at the same time. He was two stores away from the arcade when saw someone who he thought was busy. Mina had skipped out of the arcade with someone he didn't recognize. A guy with short white hair that seemed to be taller than both him and Mina. He had a respectable smile as Mina talked about something, and the both of them had seem to be enjoying their selves.

But what made it all the more clear for Rai, was when the guy interlocked his hand with her's. That sudden action had put a huge dent in Rai's behavior, and the fact that Mina was blushing and smiling made it even more so.  Mina was going out with this guy, they were on a date.  Rai was heartbroken. He thought about all the times Mina would tease him, their flirtatious banter between one another, and the kiss on the cheek that she gave him a few weeks back. All of the emotions he felt and all the hope he had, had gone up in smoke and all that was left was a hollow feeling, like his actual beating heart had just vanished into a void.

He did it again...he had HOPED again. Something he told himself a million times not to do about almost everything crucial to him in his life. He had hoped that the kids at school back in America would think his powers were cool when they saw them. He had hoped that the girl he had a crush on back then would accept his feelings and be there for him when the kids would pick on him. He had hoped that his father would be there for him when he had finally became an actual hero and was able to work beside him, a father-son duo.

He....had hoped that somehow, some way, Ashido would actually, like-like him. But he should've known better, he should've known not to get his hopes up for anything anymore. Seeing her with that guy should've been the first seed in his head that she was on a date. But now he finally saw it, and it broke him emotionally. With everything hitting him at once, he turned away and began walking back to where he separated with his mom and sister. He put his headphones back on and started walking.

"Hey, isn't that, oh it is! Hey! Hey Nagi!" Mina shouted. Rai did hear her, but he didn't respond nor did he want to respond, he wasn't upset with her or anything, he just wanted to be alone. "Oh man, he has his headphones on, hey can you wait here for me? I'll go get him, I want to introduce you to him." Mina asked the white haired boy. "Yeah sure, I'll be waiting." he responded. Mina smiled and went to chase after Rai.

Somehow and thankfully in his case, Rai was able to avoid Mina. She had followed him for a while and it seemed as if she was going to catch up to him. That was until Rai had done something he'd never thought he would do. There was a walkway that connected one part of the mall to the other, it was on the second floor. Rai had decided to sit on the metal bars that held the walkway together. Mina had just caught site of him after her first attempt to reach out to him fail. This time she was with the white haired boy, hand interlocked again. They saw him sitting there on the bars listening to his music.

He wasn't aware of them looking at him, nor did he care. But had he turned around and looked in their direction, he would've seen Mina's shocked face. She didn't know that if he jumped or God forbid fall, that the distance between the walkway and first floor wasn't a big deal. But she didn't know, but by the time she nearly reached him to try to pull him back, he had jumped. Before that happened, he had gotten a text from Sasha that both her and their mother were looking dead at him sitting on the bars.

Ms. Kusanagi nearly had a fit and almost shouted at him to get down from there. But thankfully Sasha had held her off and calmed her down. Rai nearly shuttered at the thought of his mother shouting his name in a public place when he really wasn't in the mood for bullshit at the moment. So he secretly activated his quirk and jumped down the walkway. Landing safely on the ground he was immediately chastised by his mother for nearly scaring her. "Sorry mom, I just wanted to do that just once." he lied. He wasn't really thinking and he just wanted to do something to get his mind off of Mina and her date. After calming his mother down, the three of them made their way to the exit heading back home, with a worried looking Mina watching as they leave.
