Unintentional Meetings

Rai had opened the door to an empty house. Earlier he had gotten a text message from his mother that she and his sister were taking care of some errands and that she left him some money on the top of the microwave for him in case he wanted to order take out. Instead of ordering take out, he decided to step outside once more to go back to his favorite burger joint. But before he did, he changed his clothes since they got a little wet from the rain. After changing he texted his mother that he was going out to eat instead of being cooped up at the house. A few minutes later she texted back telling him to be safe like she always would. Smiling at his phone, he put on his jacket and stepped out the door.

Making his way to the joint, Rai contemplated on what he would get once he got there. Would he get his original order, a large double stacked cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese? Or would he go for one of those super spicy chicken sandwiches he heard Sasha got from her last visit? Or something else on the menu. Since the day so far was mostly upsetting, and he had enough money, he decide to get both his original order and the spicy sandwich. He had constantly kept himself from junk food for the sake of his work out routine. But today was his cheat day manly because since he started training, he hasn't really been back to the place.

'Well I guess I'm going full throttle with the food for tonight.' he thought to himself. Making his way down the street he began to think about the next day, since he and Izuku were meeting up with uncle Yagi, he figured it might be back at the beach. It would make a lot sense, they started their work there, so it would be a good way to say goodbye to their old life.

Just outside the burger joint, Rai had heard the bell ding that signaled someone either coming in or out of the place. Looking up he had saw someone he really didn't want to bump into.

"Fucking great, of all people, why did it have to be him?" he said. Bakugou and two of his friends had just exited the joint and made their way in Rai's direction. It had been a very long time since he and Bakugou squared off. Come to think of it, they haven't really fought since Izuku tried saving him from the sludge villain. Since then Bakugou hadn't tried to get up in Izuku's face. Rai found that to be strange yet a blessing for both him and Izuku.

Rai and Bakugou were getting use to how one another fought. Sooner or later, their stalemates were going to be the norm, neither one winning against the other.

"Yo Bakugou, check it out, its the crappy joy buzzer kid." said one of the boys. Rai's attention all of a sudden went to the guy on Bakugou's left. The guy was around the same height as him, had long brown hair and had a smug look on his face. The boy to the right of Bakugou started to snicker. Rai was not in the best mood today and all he wanted was to go pick up his food and go back home. He and Bakugou caught each other's eyes and stared at one another. Nothing was being said, everything went quiet, and then Bakugou started walking in Rai's direction. The expression on his face wasn't one of anger, it was mostly annoyance.  Rai mentally readied himself just case a fast one was about to be pulled on him. Just then, Bakugou passed him, but in doing so, he spoke.

"Don't think what happen last time will happen again, I'll kill your ass next time you asshole."

And with that, he kept walking. Rai was stunned, never had he seen or heard Bakugou....FUCKING BAKUGOU of all people, speak in a calm manner. Is the world coming to an end or something? The two boys were speechless as well, it wasn't long be they started to follow Bakugou and fade into the crowd behind Rai.

'Heh, if that's the case, then train harder dumb ass, otherwise both me AND Izuku will leave you in the dust.' Rai thought, as he went in the burger joint. It was a kind of a shame, if his attitude was a little better, humbled himself, and didn't treat Izuku as well as other quirkless people like trash, he would've made a better rival.

Heading into the diner Rai saw that there were more people in line than he had thought. Usually the line has about four to five people excluding him, this time there were eight. Looking around the place he soon realized what was going on. There was a couple's night special going on and the people in from were just some couples who caught wind of the whole shindig. There were hearts hanging from the ceiling, love music being played in the background and the atmosphere was making it hard for him.

*Sigh*

"I cannot, for the life of me catch a single...fucking...break dammit." he mumbled to himself.

A while after, it was finally his turn, the lady at the counter remembered Rai instantly and smiled at him.

"Hey there kid, how long has it been since you've been by? A few months, close to a year? Where you been all this time?" she asked. "I was training with a friend of mine for the entrance exam for U.A. I sadly had to lay off your delicious food in order to get my body right for it all. But it paid off, I got in and I'm celebrating." he responded. The lady smiled even more as she congratulated Rai for a job well done. He thanked her and ordered his food.

Soon after he grabbed his food and payed for it, he then started to exit the joint, but not before getting a good luck parting from the lady. He smiled back, saying he'll make her proud. That somewhat eased Rai's mind and he started to feel better. Outside the place Rai looked back at inside, seeing all the couples enjoying their food, laughing and sharing their soda floats. A small smile formed on his face. He couldn't bring himself to be upset at them or their fortune, it just wasn't in him. Even if he couldn't have a stable love life, he wished that others would, and seeing the couples having a good time, was better than sulking about his problems.

'While there might not be someone out there for everyone, you always wish those who do have someone the best of luck. Keep your chin up high and feet on the ground, maybe one day it'll be the same for you.' his mother's words came to his thoughts.

"Yeah, you're right mom. Keep on trucking, be it girls, school, or hero work. Gotta press on."

With that, he made his way back home, ready to chow down on his dinner and play the hell out of his game station.
