"Come on Nagi, I promise you that you don't have anything to worry about. I just know that my mom is going to love you." Mina said
It was the next day that Mina decided to get the introductions between her family and Rai out the way. Better now than later, since if she didn't do it now, they would have to wait until after their exams. Plus this would be a good time to also get some studying done with her boyfriend this time instead of Yao-Momo. She could tell that Rai was a little on edge since he was still thinking about yesterday's encounter with his mother. But Mina was persistent in making sure the meeting was today.
"Besides, I told her about you before we even started dating. My mom has been dying to meet you. "
"She has? What all did you tell her about me?" asked Rai.
"Oh the usual, us hanging out, how you helped me with school work, how smart you are when it comes to school....how cute you are when you get flustered."
She finished that sentence with a wink, making the boy blush. With that out the way, Mina unlocked the door to her house. Going inside they heard a TV in the living room and the sound of two kids talking. Taking off their school jackets and shoes, the pair made their way into the living room.
"Mom I'm home." Mina called out.
"Mina!!!!" a voice called out.
She was met with two little girls rushing to hug her. Kneeling down she greeted to the little ones with a big hug and kisses on their cheeks.
"Mirai, Yuko, how are my little princesses?" Mina said with a smile.
"We're great." the two said in unison.
Mina's little sisters were both flashing a smile similar to their big sister, so close to the point that people would've assumed that they were her kids. It didn't take long to the two twins to spot Rai standing behind Mina. Both of them having curious looks on their faces, their eyes going straight to the boys head.
"Hey Mina, who's the boy with the funny looking hair?" Yuko asked.
'Funny looking huh?' Rai thought as he fiddled with his hair.
"That's rude Yuiko, his hair isn't funny looking, it's really cute. Especially when you play with it." Mina said as she gave her boyfriend a sly smile, making him blush again for the second time that day.
Just then a woman with similar curly hair stepped out of the kitchen and made her way to the children.
"Welcome home Mina, I take it this is the wonderful boy you've been talking about for a while." the eldest Ashido said.
"Hello ma'am, I'm Kusanagi Rai, nice to meet you." Rai greeted, bowing his head.
"You were right Mina, he is a gentleman, with such a good looking hair style. Who does your hair sweetie?" Mrs. Ashido ask.
"I do it myself mostly, and sometimes I have my mom help me." he responded.

As the evening went on Mrs. Ashido was taking a liking to Rai, just as Mina figured she would. She was really happy that her mother and Rai were getting to know each other, it also helped that Rai was good with kids as well, something that her little sisters were happy about. Rai even offered to help with dinner, noting that he had some experience in the kitchen, which made Mina's mother love him even more. Then came dinner itself, the two teenagers set the table while Mrs. Ashido got set the food out.
"So Kusanagi-kun, tell me about your life at home."
"Well there's me, my sister, and my mother. My mom works for a computer company and my sister is a professional martial arts teacher. My dad...well do you remember the pro hero called Shockwave?"
"Oh yes the lightning hero, I remember him. I heard that he passed away a few years ago. Very tragic..."
Realization soon struck the elder Ashido as she looked at her daughter's and Rai's somewhat depressed expressions at the mention of the hero's passing.
"Oh honey, I'm very sorry for your loss. He was a great hero. My husband actually was saved by him once during a mugging. That day my husband became a fan, seeing your father deal with those villains really excited him. Is your quirk similar to you dad's?" she asked.
"Yes, I can generate lightning as well as shoot it in any direction I choose. But that's were the similarity ends. Due to my mom's quirk, which allows her to evolve a skill in anything she puts her mind to, they meshed together and gave me the ability to evolve the uses of my lightning over time. At first, it was the standard create lightning and shoot it anywhere. Then I was able to use my lightning to enhance my upper or lower body for speed and strength, then as I trained, it evolved further."
As he explained his quirk evolution, Mina cosigned him and well as adding how cool he looked with surge mode was active. Mina's little sisters wanted to see how he looked and he at first declined, stating he wasn't sure if it would be appropriate to activate his quirk in someone else's home. Mrs. Ashido reassured him that she didn't mind, as long as he made sure it was just to show the kids how he looked. Since he was given the go ahead, they made him some space and he stood in the middle of the living room, activating surge mode. The kids were astounded by the why that Rai was glowing and the sparks of lightning dance around him. The way Mina was staring at her boyfriend would make someone think she was looking at a divine figure out of a fantasy movie. The way his hair floated, the slight blue outline that surrounded his body, and the way his blue eyes glowed.
'He looks soooooo cool!' she squealed in her mind.
After the demonstration of his technique, the rest of the evening went normal. Mina gave a little tour around the house, showing him the backyard and the little garden they had. Mina even showed him her room, which at first he was a little worried about. He did notice that she had a thing for the color scheme of magenta and black.
She then leaned her head on his shoulder.
"It's fine Nagi, as long as we keep the door open it's no big deal. Besides, I'm not gonna play around with you while my family's home. We'd be in trouble if we made too much noise." she whispered.
Rai shook his head, trying to hide his blush. She took delight in his embarrassment. She loved that he had his cute side. Its something she was excited to see whenever she got the chance. With all of that out of the way, the sky was starting to get dark and nighttime was coming soon. Rai had gotten a message earlier from his mom reminding him to be home before it got too late.

"It was nice to finally meet you Mrs. Ashido. Thank you for your hospitality." Rai said as he bowed.
"And it was nice to finally meet the boy my daughter was stressing over a few weeks ago." she replied.
That threw Mina for a loop. How did her mother know about her stressing about him? She was now intrigued.
"Wait, I never said anything about my situation with Rai or anything. How did you know mom?"
"Sweetie I know the face and behavior of a teenage girl who's conflicted about her love life. I was once your age remember?" the elder Ashido replied with a giggle.
"Dang it, I thought I was doing good at hiding it." Mina said.
Chuckling, Rai said his goodbye to Mina and her family. While making his way out of the main yard he heard a door open and closed. Then he heard footsteps coming his way. Sounding like the steps were behind him he turned his head a little before receiving a hug from behind by Mina. It caught him off guard but he soon accepted it.
"See Rai, I told you she'd love you." she said.
Mina then kissed his cheek as she released him and ran back into the house. Rai smiled as he waited for his girlfriend to make it back inside and then headed to the station. The relationship hurdle they had in front of them was finally jumped over. Now all they had to look forward to where their exams.
