"Ohhhhhh my little baby brother has a date." Sasha blurted out as she saw Rai in a really good casual outfit. It wasn't anything special to him though, just a short sleeve black shirt with a sleeveless blue hoodie jacket, black cargo pants and blue boots. He accompanied this outfit with his father's necklace and a black wrist watch. "Come on now, it's not that serious and its not even a date. Just a friendly face that offered to show me around." "But the friendly face is a girl." "Aaaaaaand?" He should've said that he was going to hang out with Izuku, his sister always joked about him having little crushes and he always brushed it off. But he never had it in his heart to lie to his sister, he just made sure to never bring up sensitive subjects around her.

"Exactly, so why would you put on good clothes if its not a big deal?" Sasha asked with a confident and smug look on her face. "Because one, its not a date and two, I've wanted to wear this outfit out a long time, might as wear it now." Rai responded. He had barely left the house for any reason other than school, going over to Izuku's house or for errands and he never wore anything that really stood out. But he was going to the mall, if anything he didn't want to look plain.  As he headed out the door with phone in hand and one earphone piece in his ear, his sister called out to him. "Knock 'em dead little brother, and make sure to give her your attention at all times!" He sighed heavily and shook his head as he went out, not bothering to respond to his sister's silly assumptions.

Making his way back inside the burger joint he thought about if his outfit was too much, while he did want to wear it out in public, he didn't want to overdo things with his style. More importantly, would Mina think his outfit was too much, or possibly too plain? He thought about this for a good three minutes before he realized that he was worried that this girl he just met would judge him. 'Dude, calm down it is not that serious.' he thought to himself. To ease his mind he turned on his music and put both earphones in, closed his eyes and decided to let the music distract him.

Thirty minutes in his music he felt a tap on his shoulder, he took the right earphone out and opened his eyes. Mina Ashido was standing in front of him with a slightly revealing attire that nearly made Rai's eyes pop out of their sockets. She wore a white crop top that somewhat showed off her stomach like regular crop tops,  just stopping right at her belly button, dark blue jean shorts, and white converse high tops. She also had a black jacket tied around her waist and wore a two yellow bracelets on her left arm. She had a big grin on her face, the biggest Rai had ever seen as she greeted him. "Hey there, sorry I took so long, my dad was holding me up. I hope I didn't make you think I was stringing you along." Rai got up from his seat, struggling to keep eye contact with her.

Mina could see the look in his eyes when he first saw her. She had gotten looks like that before by the other guys in her school but never really paid attention to them like that since they were mostly geared toward how strange she looked. This guy on the other hand, had a look of pure amazement and wonder, as if he stumbled upon a rare gem of some sorts. He didn't realized that he somewhat complimented her with his gaze and it made her feel really great about herself than she already had. So she decided to reward him somewhat with this outfit of hers. She was already planning on wearing it with her friends but since that wasn't possible, she thought of it as her little way of thanking him for his silent compliment.

"O-Oh don't worry about it, I didn't really wait that long, my sister almost held me up as well. Oh yeah and before I forget, I didn't give you my name, Rai Kusanagi, nice to meet you Ashido-chan." he said as he bowed his head. "Nice to meet you as well Kusanagi." she extended her hand for a shake and he followed through.

Rai became amazed at how big the mall actually was. Mina had told him that it was the biggest mall they had in Japan, but he wasn't expecting THIS big. As the two made their way inside Rai had saw a plethora of stores that ranged from clothes, food, games etc. Mina could see the excitement in the boy's eyes and it made her giggle a little. "Easy Kusanagi, you look like you're thinking about marrying the place" she said with a smile. Rai had gathered himself and calmed down. "Sorry, its just...I've never seen a mall this big with so many stores before." he said. Back in his hometown, he had been to the mall there, but it wasn't really all that impressive. A one story building that sadly didn't have that many stores and was on the verge of going out of business. "Well lets go, I'll show you some great stores and they have a really big arcade here too." she said as she took his hand. He would've blush at the action if he didn't hear one of his favorite word. "You had me at arcade, let's go!" he said with a huge smile on his face.

Mina was going through every single store she had found interest in and dragged Rai along for the ride. She didn't do too much, as she didn't want to scare the boy off and label her as crazy mall chick, but to her surprise he was more invested in the mall than she had thought. As time passed the both of them had decided to go for some sweets in the bakery. Rai still had his shake he got from the burger joint in the fridge back home and if his sister or mother didn't get to it, it should still be half full. But Mina had suggested they find a little snack just in case he came back home to find that either one of them went after his shake. Mina had gotten a pillow cake that was to her surprise, really fluffy and very sweet, Rai on the other hand had gotten a red velvet funnel cake with cream frosting.

While eating their desert they got to know each other a little better, they found out that they had similar interest such as games, movies, and even break dancing. "That's awesome Kusanagi, you've gotta show some of your moves some day." Mina commented. "Eh, I'm not that good, besides, I only picked up the activity in my spare time a month after I got here. I'm pretty sure you're a way better dancer than me Ashido-chan. I mostly focus on singing every now and then to be honest." Rai wasn't one to ever toot his on horn, he had been one to let his actions speak for him as to never seem cocky. That was more of Bakugou's behavior and he wanted to as distant from him as possible.

"Oh really now, you sing?" Mina asked with a sly smile starting to form on her face. Rai looked at her and for a moment, he insistently regretted telling her. He never sang for anyone, he had practice many times while by himself, and always made sure to never let anyone now. 'Uh oh...I fucked up, great going mouth.' He mentally kicked himself as he finished the thought. Mina finished her cake and stood up. "Well then...how about we put that to the test?" she asked with a very big smile on her face. Little sparks of electricity started surge around his body, this happened whenever he got REALLY nervous about things, it was how the kids at his old school had found out about him having a quirk. But before he could protest it was already too late, Mina had took him by the hand a dragged him to his fate.

Mina was completely impress by Rai as they left the karaoke bar. They had got a room to their selves so Rai could focus more and Mina wanted to see if she could have to option to joke about the situation later. To her surprise she loved his singing voice, they had even did a duo as their last song before heading out. Rai was still a little nervous though, singing in front of and with the girl you kind of have a crush on, can be nerve racking....wait, he just admitted he had a little crush on Mina. Just great, another thing to have on his mind at night. "Hey Kusanagi, you did really well, now I'm convinced, this was a really good day." Mina smiled at the boy, causing him to smile back. "Yeah it was, thanks for offering to show me around Ashido-chan."

The two had exited the mall and made their way towards the train station, Rai carrying two bags and Mina carrying one. She wanted to do more shopping, but sadly Rai had to cut it short due to his sister telling his mother he was out with a 'friend', his mom had immediately rang his phone, she slammed him with a ton for questions, Mina had overheard some of them. She giggled at the woman's sudden questions and found it sweet, knowing his mother was so protective of him.

"Ugh, sorry about all of that, I should've told my sister I was hanging out with a friend from school." Rai said, knowing full well what was awaiting him at home. "Its okay, my parents would've done the same if they knew my friends canceled their plans and I suddenly went with a boy I just met." she replied. Arriving at the station Rai had thanked Mina for showing him around the mall, to which she smiled and welcomed him. Their day together ended with a number exchange, and a wave good bye. Rai had made another new friend, and he was more happy about that than when he became friends with Izuku.

"Well, looks like things are somewhat looking up for me, thanks for watching over me dad." he said as he looked at the stars in the night, making his way home. This mall adventure was just a spark of what was coming later, but Rai was determined to face whatever came with his head held high.
