"Wait, seriously? I mean I'm not against the whole thing, but we just started dating, isn't that a little too fast?" he asked.

"Well yeah we just started dating, but we've been friends longer than that. Plus I've already been in your house before. The only person I haven't met is your mom, and I'm pretty sure she'll love me." Mina replied.

'My mom will kill me. I can already hear her asking so many questions.' Rai thought.

Ms. Kusanagi was the stereotypical mother when it came to the son and the girl he brings home. She didn't want him dating any girl that wasn't worth his time or a bad influence. If there was going to be any peace at mind for his mother, he was going to have to make sure that his mom was in a good mood and not on edge.

When they got to his house Mina could feel her boyfriend tense up. She wasn't as worried as he was and she thought this would be a good time for her to formally introduce herself to his mother. But then, she decided to take a few steps back and analyze the situation. Before he could open the door he was stopped by Mina.

"Rai...if you really feel uneasy about this, we can just stop here. I'll go back to the station and wait for another train." she said. Her head hanging down, almost like she was ashamed for bring up the sleep over idea. She was starting to regret making the suggestion. It seemed as though this was a little too fast for him and she felt a little bad about it.

Rai picked up on the sudden shift in her voice and behavior. He didn't want this, he didn't want to see her upset about anything unless it was in a cute way. He couldn't help but feel guilty about it. He wanted her to know that she wasn't the problem. So doing what any good boyfriend would do in time like this:

"Mina? Look at me?" he asked in his most sincere voice.

When she looked up at him, he could see a slight bit of hurt in her eyes. Without missing a beat, he cupped the side of her left cheek and kissed her gently on the forehead. This sudden action from him surprised her and caused a slight blush to form on her face. Not only that, it strangely took all of her worry and sadness away and replaced it a warm feeling in her heart. She held his hand with both of hers. He gave her a smile to reassure her before he continued.

"Mina, I'm worried about my mom asking too many embarrassing questions about you and me and weirding you out more than you meeting her. She still babies me and my sister can vouch for that. Plus, not to bring stereotypes or race into this, but while my mom is Japanese, she picked up a few things from my grandmother on my dad's side of the family back in the U.S. Stuff that could make you mistake her for an caring African American mother. And from my experience let me tell you, no one is more overprotective than a black woman who CARES about her kids. Why do you think Sasha let you spend the night while my mom stayed at her friend's house to help pull that failed prank on me this morning? Simply put, like a responsible black mother, hell any responsible mother in general, my mom doesn't joke around about this kind of stuff." he said.

"Wow, your mom is THAT serious?" Mina asked, now more curious than ever.

Rai nodded. "Yeah, man if you saw the look on her face when I told her about that time where we were attacked by my uncle in disguise for that one training session, you could've sworn that you saw a demon in human form. Sasha had to hold her back from smacking him in the head with a frying pan."

Mina was very surprised at this. Her mom and dad on the other hand were a little more relaxed than that. All Rai would have to worry about is her parents teasing the both of them.

"But none the less, I'll introduce you to her and vice versa. I just hope she's in a good mood today. She usually is, but you know, sometimes things will happen. So be prepared." he warned.
