The past two months have been somewhat hectic for Rai and Izuku. In that time a few things happened, Izuku had stumbled upon uncle Yagi's secret, as well as Rai's relationship with the pro hero. After that was brought to light and All Might seeing Izuku's heroic nature when Bakugou was at the mercy of a sludge villain, he had decided that Izuku was worthy of succeeding him. Uncle Yagi had decided to train Izuku so that his body would be ready when the time came to receive his quirk. Rai couldn't be more happy for Izuku, all his life he was teased for not having a quirk and now out of nowhere, All Might, uncle Yagi, had sworn to train this kid to be the next symbol of peace.
Rai wanted to train with his uncle and Izuku, he didn't want to sit on the sidelines and just watch. Rai had already started training ahead of time for U.A. a month ago and making sure he had really good control of his lightning quirk. He had already trained to summon his lightning, control the energy output of it, generate the energy through either half of his body, giving the top part a strength and speed advantage and the bottom part the speed. He wanted to work on his body as well though, as he had a slight obsession with martial arts and weight lifting. His sister had helped him with the martial arts since she was a teacher of Tae-kwan-do and Kung-fu. Her lessons weren't easy of course and Rai nearly broke a few bones when trying too hard, but to him it was all worth it.
"Sweetie you can't keep going like that, you'll over work yourself." Rai's mother told him. "Trust me mom, I know I shouldn't do that, I'm just making sure I don't let up on my training." he reassured her. His mother was always one to worry about him and made sure he never did anything or hung out with anyone who looked like they could be a bad influence in his life. She made sure to stress to All Might that if he worked Rai too hard, she would make what he went through with Grand Torino seem like child's play. Ms. Kusanagi was one scary person when it came to her children being hurt or treated badly, which is why Rai mostly took the rap for the kids at his old school, he knew that if she found out they mis-treated him, they would know what hell on earth was like at an early age.
"Don't worry mom, I'm keeping my eyes on him and making sure he's not going overboard." Sasha said as she entered the kitchen. Her and Rai had just finished their session downstairs in the dojo. Their mother sighed and gave up, she knew when to hold back in her sayings and allow her kids to continue with their business.

Rai had just made his way to the beach to see Izuku and All Might already starting without him. He quickly dashed using his quirk and landed behind them sighing. "Uncle Yagi, you do know that your training both of us right, or did you forget?" he questioned. "Sorry my boy, but young Midoriya has to put in a little more work than you since you have other ways of improving yourself. Remember he's the one who has to build more muscle." All Might responded. Rai paused as he began to comprehend his uncle's words. Izuku was entrusted to wield One For All and All Might did say that in order to wield it properly, he had to to gain more strength in his body. Rai just wanted to build some muscle because he wanted to be in top shape, his reason was a general one, Izuku's was mandatory. With that Rai agreed and they continued with their training.
As the days of training went by, Rai and Mina began to grow a little closer. Mina ended up nicknaming him "Nagi" since she felt it was easier a cuter, and Rai called her "Gem" due to her irises looking as such. When they both learned that they were applying to U.A. they were even more excited, thinking about how the exams would be and what would it be like if they got accepted. "What if they have us fight pro heroes, or maybe they'll have us fight in teams, oh this is just so exciting. I can't wait anymore Nagi." Mina said as she was busy leaving Rai in the dust on the arcade dancing machine. They went to the mall again to catch a break from their homework and to challenge each other on would was the better at dancing, and so far Mina was dominating. "I-oof, maybe they might-damn it, I can't talk and keep up with the beat." Rai said as he struggled to keep his rhythm. Mina couldn't help but laugh at her friend as he tried so hard to keep up.
After that embarrassing match up they went shopping again, but this time if was mostly for Mina. She wanted to find some swimsuits because she and her family were going on vacation for the weekend. Rai's mind had instantly went to places it shouldn't have, and many of those thoughts had made his face heat up like a wildfire. Rai wasn't innocent as most people would believe, he knew of the (mostly) forbidden fruit that was a female's body and he knew everything about how the birds and the bees went. His mind did wonder from time to time, but he was never one to let it mess with his head. This time was different, the possibility of seeing Mina in a swimsuit made his heart nearly jump out. He believed he wasn't anywhere near the point to where he could comment on Mina's figure unless he wanted burns way worse than the drawback from the overuse of his quirk.
He chose to wait outside the store until Mina had found what she wanted. He was certain he heard a slight tone of disappointment come from her acceptance of him waiting outside the store, but he brushed it off. There was no way, on God's green earth that she really wanted his opinion on her selections...right? Usually that was something couple's did and even if they were friends, he felt as if that was something he should only do with his girlfriend.
Mina was somewhat upset that Rai chose to stay outside. She wanted his say on each swimsuit she picked out. She didn't really see him coming in with her as a serious thing like most would. They had known each other for six months so far and he never once crossed any line that would be seen as perverted. He was the perfect gentleman and friend. She knew he kinda had a thing for her when he first saw her and that's why she wore what she had on their first hangout. Maybe she was thinking about it too hard, and it was just the simple fact of a respectable boy not treading dangerous waters until it was safe to do so.
Thirty minutes passed as Mina finally made her way out of the store, she had found two swimsuits, a one piece and a two piece. She would wear the one piece when she was out in public and the two piece whenever she went to the hot tub. Rai was outside with his earphones in listening to his music while he played a mobile game on his phone. He was close to passing his previous record before he felt a poke on his side. The action made him jump which also messed up his concentration and when he looked at his screen, a big "game over" was spread across the screen. He hung his head in defeat.
He looked at the person who caused the atrocity, with a look that said "Really?". Mina stood there with an innocent look on her face, playing coy. He stood up to looked at the girl that was three inches shorter than him. Raking his hand through his dreads he let out a sigh, and with that same hand lightly flicked one of her horns. She immediately covered her head and squealed, she soon looked at Rai with a slight blush and puffed out cheeks. Now he was the one to play innocent and whistled a tune as if he didn't do what he just did. He looked back at her with a smirk on his face and hunched his shoulders with a playful "What did I do?" face.
'Oh so that's how it is huh Nagi? Well you asked for it!' When she had finished that thought, she had already got her revenge. She had placed a quick kiss on the boy's cheek. Rai, standing there in shock of what just happened, eyes wide and mouth shut. Mina had stuck her tongue out and ran pass the boy, daring him to catch her. He quickly pulled his self together and chased after her. Since her wanting him to follow her in the store seemed as if it was too much, she decided to reward him with a kiss on the cheek for being such a gentleman. Little did she know, that simple playful action would bring out some hidden feelings she would soon have for her friend. Feelings that would later be brought to light in the coming days as the two spent more time with each other.
