Chapter 8

"Yes, she is. Is Tasha the only one after her?"

"No, there is Alto, as I said. And there are several other moroi, here on campus, that want to hurt her. Two of those being, Jesse Zeklos and Ralph Sarcozy, they are pissed off because she won't sleep with them. Just before I came to see you I had to pull Zeklos off of my Roza. He was trying to force his attentions on her and trying to get her to let him feed from her. He was doing everything short of compelling her to sleep with him. And I have no doubts whatsoever that had I not shown up when I did, that he would have done that eventually.  Any way another of the moroi that wishes to do harm to my wife, is one who holds the highest positions that a moroi can hold here on campus."

Again her jaws went slack at my words.

"Are you talking about Kirova?" She asked and I nodded. "Why?"

"She wants Roza discredited and gone. Because Roza knows something about her that she doesn't want anyone else to know."

"Can you tell me what that is?"

"Not yet, although I really  wish that I could. It would save a lot of people a lot of unnecessary pain and misery, if it were to ever come to light, if I could."

"I understand, you are in a sticky and difficult position. What else?"

"Shortly after CHRISTmas we will all be sent to a ski lodge. That was when Tasha made her first attempt on my Roza's life. I know that this probably goes without saying, but Roza and I need to be assigned to the same room at the ski lodge as well. While we are at the ski lodge is when Mason Ashford, Eddie Castile and Mia Rinaldi will sneak away from the ski lodge and go to Spokane Washington strigoi hunting."

Alberta's mouth fell open in shock.

"Mia's mother is killed a few days before that in a strigoi attack on the royals that she works for. Drazdov's I believe it was. That is just one more of the things that can't be interfered with. Only Mia's father survives the attack, and he barely survives. Mason gets angry and wants to get revenge on the strigoi, so he takes Eddie and Mia on a strigoi hunt. Roza finds out that they are gone. So she and Christian Ozera will go after their friends. The first three are captured and in order to find them Roza and Christian allow themselves to be taken as well. In my timeline, Roza gets them all out but Mason tries to be a hero and goes back inside to try and save Roza. Which got him killed and saddled my Roza with massive amounts of guilt. Roza managed to kill the two ancients that killed him. With a rusty sword that hadn't been sharpened in probably several decades."

I thought for a moment that Alberta was going to fall out of her chair she was so shocked.

"In my timeline those were her first kills. Although she was supposed to have killed Natalie Dashkov but she didn't, because I was too afraid to train her like she asked me to. I wanted to wrap her up in bubble wrap and hide her in a closet away from everyone to keep her safe. But instead, my refusal to train her properly was what almost got her killed. And that will not happen this time around. Anyway, when they disappear from the ski lodge we can't go after them for at least three days. Or else we take the risk of screwing up something that must happen."

Alberta nodded. "So Natalie will be her first kill."

"Yes." I answered sadly.

"Is there more?"

"Quiet a bit yes."

I went on to tell Alberta all that I could without messing up anything. We stayed in her office and talked for almost three more hours.

"Go get some rest Dimitri, I imagine that you could really use it. We will straighten out everything with your schedule and Rose's tomorrow. And I will notify all of her teachers not to expect her any more. That will most likely chap Alto's ass. Anyway, after your training take her to breakfast, but keep her away from everyone. It would probably be best if you got breakfast to go and took it back to her room. If you eat in the cafeteria, after your finish eating take her back to her room and help her pack. Can she know about all of this?"
