"That's our cue Roza."
As we prepared to walk out the door I sent the previously prepared text messages to Alberta and Abe. Letting Abe know that it was time to send his guardians to the elementary campus. And letting Alberta know that the battle was about to commence.
Roza and I eventually made it to the main campus. After having to fight and killed over a dozen strigoi in the woods between our cabin and the academy.
We all fought for such a long time that fatigue was beginning to set in, in a big way, for everyone. But the adrenaline rush helped us push through. A few times I stopped to catch my breath and watched my Roza fight, with Chris right by at her side, and she was magnificent. She is a goddess and she would never cease to amaze me. She truly was a one-woman army.
Once I saw her squat down and bring herself into a tight ball. Her arms wrapped around her knees and her head tucked between them. I had no idea why she was doing that, but I soon figured it out.
Two strigoi were charging straight for her from opposite sides of the quad. She waited until they were almost upon her. Then she stood up flung her arms out to her sides and let the strigoi impale themselves on her stakes. Killing the both of them instantly and easily.
I got so wrapped up in watching her that I was taken by surprise when a strigoi attacked me from behind.
"Rozaaa!!!!" I unintentionally screamed through our bond.
She turned and gave a bloodcurdling scream. "NOOOO!!!!!!!"
Then the very last thing in the world that I could have ever expected to happen happened. She threw a massive lightning bolt. One which completely incinerated the blonde strigoi, Nathan, that had attacked me. The impact of the bolt sent me flying back about three feet, I was slightly stunned for a moment but unharmed. Jumping up I got right back into the fray.
After killing the strigoi that tried to attack me while I was down. I ran to my Roza's side, but she was still so rattled that she was in the middle of a major meltdown. She was trembling and glowing, fluctuating between red, orange, yellow and gold. Which as far as I knew was new.
Soon she was glowing so brightly that I could barely even look at her, and I couldn't touch her at all. Suddenly she threw her arms out to her sides threw her head up towards the sky and started screaming.
Her scream pierced the air like the wailing of a new widow, who was haunting a widow walk. She gave one long loud ear-piercing scream. A scream that was at such a high frequency that it shattered every window in every building at the academy, or at least the ones that I could see. After the windows exploded her screaming ceased.
During this whole time, she looked like she was standing in the middle of the sun. A huge pulse wave of blinding light and melting heat exploded from her. It flew out for miles around us.
When she stopped screaming the heat and light quickly faded away and she began to sway. But the strange thing about this heat and light, was that neither of them harmed anything living. Not the guardians, not Chris, not me, not the grass, shrubs, trees and not even the birds in the sky and trees. Nothing living was affected, nothing at all.
"Roza!!!!" I screamed in a panic of my own. As I lifted her in my arms I turned and took off towards the infirmary. I ran by the remains of what looked like almost a hundred strigoi if not more. And God only knows how many were scattered around the rest of the campus.
The light and heat that had exploded from her had turned every remaining strigoi that I saw to ash. It had even incinerated the bodies of the already dead strigoi.
