She closed her eyes and listened to the song that she'd recorded once, twice, thrice, four times before being satisfied with her work. She thanked Woozi for helping her record the songs as the man who'd usually help her record called the day off.
It was the last official song in her debut album. The first album she'd have with Pledis.Though her albums;her old albums weren't under Pledis,it was still hers and she took great pride in that.
She smiled softly at Woozi who sat on the other side of the glass window.
"Good job,Hyejin."he spoke through the speakers in the small recording studio. She gave him a thumbs up and placed the headphones on he mic stand before pushing the glass doors and into the main room of the recording studio where Woozi sat with a small smile.
"You write and compose good songs,Hyejin.I gotta say, let's work together on Seventeen's next album.Your works are impressive."Woozi said giving her a thumbs up.
Hyejin's cheeks and nose dusted with a faint blush at the compliment.
"Thanks."she said softly before the two headed out of the recording studio.Somehow, this what Woozi said reminded Hyejin of him.He told her that when she'd asked him for help when recording. He was the one who encouraged her to work as an idol. They debuted on the same year in 2013.They....they were gone.No longer a fantasy but a memory.
A memory of what used to be.She slowly walked and eventually stopped in her tracks.Woozi, noticed and turned back with a worried face.
"Hyejin? What's wrong?"he asked walking back and placing a hand on her shoulder. She looked at him with tears in her eyes.
"Hey..."Woozi said softly."Don't cry or your oppa will kill me.Hell...I think they'd all kill me."Hyejin forced a smile and nodded. He said that too...and it hurt her.A lot.
Hyejin willed herself to move towards the practice room where the rest of the boys were, practicing for their comeback. Then again,a wave of sorrow hit her.Her Pledis debut and Seventeen's comeback would be on the same day.
She shrugged it off and forced a smile and entered the room behind Woozi. She sat in a corner and closed her eyes.It was already close to evening and she was exhausted and most importantly, hungry.
She thought of all the food she loved to eat and smiled but that soon disappeared.
And though many may have guessed it already it was only because of him.Why was it that every single positive thought she had lead to him?Hadn't she moved on already? She thought she had but turns out,she wasn't even close to forgetting all about him and her heart break. She brought her knees to her chest and buried her face in it.
Why did he have to love her?
Once upon a time he'd told her that he'd love her forever.Once upon a time he told her that he'd love her until he died.He told her that they'd get married.Once upon a time...he broke her heart and left her to pick up the fragments herself. What had changed?Had she done something wrong?
Tears stared to spill from her eyes.
Despite the long distance she'd put between herself in Seoul and Daegu, she couldn't seem to forget the loving words that he'd whisper to her everyday that would make her blush or the kisses they'd shared as a couple. All to be crushed down in moments when her best friend came along. The same best friend that had been her sister from a different mother since childhood. The same sister who'd always been there for her and had talked her into accepting him.And for what?Just to get closer to him so that she could snatch him away from her?
She felt useless and unloved for once in her life. Then, she remembered. She had her parents, her brother and her new brothers. She had her music. And that was all she wanted. What use would a boy who'd eventually leave her be?
