Sage's POV

Today is the day of the New Zealand game and we are at breakfast and I'm trying to stay quiet and out of people's way so I don't disturb any of the players game day routines. I really don't want to be blamed for losing. I'm glad I brought my headphones down so I can listen to music because it's deathly quiet. I'm glad non game days aren't like this because this sucks.

After breakfast everyone head out to do their game day routines. I stayed in the room and worked on college stuff which sucked. Around noon I went to the little cafe next door and got a sandwich then went back to the room. The team had a meeting before the game so I stayed in the room. When I laid down on the bed I noticed I had a text from Christen.

Christen: Hey after the game would you want to go get a late dinner with me?

Me: Sure, but I will have to ask Carli. I'm guessing we will be talking about Mal?

Christen: And other things 😏

Me: Carli said its fine. 😃

Christen: Awesome. Once we get back from the game we will go get something to eat thats close to the hotel. Oh Alex and Tobin are coming too.

Me: Thats fine. Fair warning though if I have a panic attack I will have to hold your hand just so I can calm down.

Christen: Thats totally fine. I will always be here for you Sage.

Me: ☺️

After the team meetings Carli and Christen came back up to get their stuff which meant it was time to head to the stadium. When we arrived at the stadium Jill pulled me aside to talk, "Hey Sage where do you want to sit?" She asked.

"I can sit in the locker room if you want."

"How about I give you the clothes the coaches are gonna wear then we just put you down by the players?"

"That sounds good Jill thank you."

Jill gives me the stuff the coaches wear and a hat so I go change then sit at the end of the coaches closest to the players. I sat next to Carli the whole game because she wasn't playing in this game for some reason. The game finished 3-1. Julie decided to ball out and score two goals in eight minutes and got Woman of the match. New Zealand scored in the 75th minute to make it 2-1. Alex got the third goal four minutes later which was good.

After the game everyone headed to the locker room and got changed then hoped on the bus to head to the hotel. Christen went to shower then we headed to the lobby to wait for Alex and Tobin. When they got down we headed to an asian food place around the corner from the hotel. As we waited for the server we talked about the game and other stuff.

"Hey Sage I never asked you, but what are you majoring in?" Tobin asked

"I'm double majoring in journalism and film and media studies."

"Wow okay why those two?"

"I've always liked writing and I've always wanted to be a sports journalist. And then I've also always wanted to make documentaries about different things like I would love to make a documentary about a season with one of the players on the National team and show people the good and the bad times of a season with club and country. I also want to travel and see other cultures."

"Well if you ever want to do that documentary you have a lot of candidates to chose from."

The waiter comes over and takes our drink and food orders and we continue talking until our food eventually comes out and we begin eating. I see Christen keeps glancing over at me and I think she is waiting for me to finish so we can speak a little more. Once we are done eating the waiter clears our table and we wait for the check. As we are waiting for our check Christen speaks up "So....."
