Sage's POV

Chrissy stayed for a few more days. Most days she and Mom would go workout in the morning after breakfast and then I'd cook lunch and we'd hang around the house or go Christmas shopping then come back and have dinner and chill until bed. I still feel bad for not giving them some alone time. Anxiety is a bitch.

Today I'm lounging around the house before mom goes to get her workout in. Grandma and Aunt Ashley are taking me Christmas shopping. Speaking of which there is a knock at the door and I'm guessing thats them.

"Hi Sage." Grandma says after I open the door and step aside so they can come into the house.

"Hi Grandma...Hi Aunt Ashley"

"You ready to go Sage?"

"Yep let me just tell Mom." I say then walk around to try and find Mom which I eventually do. "Mom...Grandma and Aunt Ashley are taking me shopping now."

She finishes tying her shoe and walks with me back to the room I left the two ladies in. " Alright you guys have fun." She then whispers to me. "Call if you need me."

I nod and we all walk out and get in the car then Aunt Ashley takes off and heads toward a shopping center. Once we get there we go in some of the stores and I look for Mom a gift. Nothing I see would be a good gift for Mom. As I'm about to give up hope I spot a jewelry store and an idea popped into my head.

"Hey Aunt Ashley can we go in there?" I ask and point at the store.

"Sure Sage." She says and we enter the store.

I look around for a while until I find a beautiful necklace that could be engraved. I get a workers attention then tell her what I want engraved and she tells me the price and to come back in two days to get it after its engraved. I pay then we leave the mall and head back to the house.

Once there Grandma and Aunt Ashley join Mom and I for lunch before they go back to their families to get ready for Christmas. Mom and I wrap presents for her family which took awhile because we started juggling with a wrapping paper ball. Once everything was done it was dinner time so we ate then went to bed.

We just got back from Christmas Eve service and we are all back at grandma's house. Mom's family has a tradition of baking cookies so that is what we are doing. Before we went to the Christmas Eve service I was surprised to learn that mom's sister and brother have families as well. I guess they didn't want to overwhelm me.

The whole family is in the kitchen and as I'm helping Aunt Ashley and Uncle Stephen's kids make cookies my favorite Christmas song comes on so I start to sing not worrying about what anyone will say because I know Mom will have my back. She will also tell people not to post anything about it.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,
Your troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,
Your troubles will be miles away.
Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.
Through the years
We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
So have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
So have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

After I'm done singing mom wraps an arm around me and kisses my head while the rest of the family looks shocked.

"Dang Sage... That was incredible" Grandpa says and the rest of the family nods.

"Thanks." I say. We then finish making cookies before everyone departs Grandma and Grandpas house to sleep before coming back in the morning.

After Mom and I got up we headed back to Grandma and Grandpa's house to help cook and wait for everybody else to show up. We cooked till noon and then ate before we opened presents. The kids were very excited while opening the presents which was cute.

Once all the gifts had been given out I took Mom away from everyone because I just wanted to be alone with her when I give her the present I got for her.

"You okay Sage?" Mom asks obviously worried that I pulled her into a quiet area.

"Yeah. I just wanted to be alone when I gave you your present." I say then give her the necklace to her and she reads the inscription.

"9.12.17. The day I..." She tries to continue but can't since she is crying so I finish her sentence.

"The day you became my Mom." I say with a smile and she pulls me into a hug. Mom and I stayed close to each other the rest of the day which was the best present I could ever get.
