Mal's POV

The twins came home two days after they were born and these past 8 months have been great...Okay the lack of sleep sucks, but since it's my daughters I don't mind.

It's a good thing Jill lets Sage and the twins come to camp because if she didn't I think we'd have more people living in our house than the four of us. When we aren't training or playing all the girls hang with us and play with our daughters. Thankfully Sage and I get one night alone every camp when some of the girls let our twins sleep with them. Everytime we get that night alone we always say we are going to have sex, but end up falling asleep at like 8.

I just got home from training with the Spirit and I notice my wife isn't anywhere I can see. I go check and see if she is with the kids and the open door to the nursery lets me know that she is there. I then hear her start to sing which makes me take out my phone and record.

And all I remember is your back
Walking towards the airport, leaving us all in your past
I traveled fifteen hundred miles to see you
Begged you to want me, but you didn't want to

But piece by piece she collected me
Up off the ground where you abandoned things, yeah
Piece by piece she filled the holes
That you burned in me at six years old
And you know,
She never walks away
She never asks for money,
She takes care of me
She loves me
Piece by piece she restored my faith
That a woman can be kind and a mother could...stay

And all of your words fall flat
I made something of myself and now you wanna come back
But your love—it isn't free, it has to be earned
Back then I didn't have anything you needed so I was worthless

But piece by piece she collected me
Up off the ground, where you abandoned things, yeah
Piece by piece she filled the holes
That you burned in me at six years old
And you know,
She never walks away
She never asks for money,
She takes care of me
'Cause she loves me
Piece by piece she restored my faith
That a woman can be kind and a mother could stay

Piece by piece I fell far from the tree
I will never leave her like you left me
And she will never have to wonder her worth
Because unlike you I'm going to put her first
And you know,
She'll never walk away,
She'll never break her heart
She'll take care of things,
She'll love her
And piece by piece she'll restore my faith
That a woman can be kind and a mother should be great

As Sage stops singing she talks to our daughters.

"I love you two more than anything in the world. I know I won't be the perfect mother, but I promise the both of you that I will always love you and I will never lay a hand on you in a malicious way. I promise to never make you feel unwanted, unloved, or hated. You two will grow up one day and your mama and I will probably do stuff that makes you hate us and we will do it not because we hate you, but because we want what is best for you and because both of you mean the absolute world to us and we love you with everything in us."

I then hear her cry making me stop the recording and send it to Carli because she always tells me she misses hearing Sage sing. I then go to my wife and hold her as she cries into my shirt.

"Hey. Shh your okay baby. You are nothing like your birth mom. I love you. Your Mom's love you. Paris and Luna love you. Our friends love you. Everything will be okay." I say.
