Chapter Eleven

            We were sitting on the waiting area when Erick came. He’s walking confidently, waving hi to his friends, and lastly, to me. I gave him a smile and waited until he sat beside me. Hinalikan niya ‘ko sa pisngi, and I acted like, I liked it—though, I don’t. Yes, I really don’t.

            I’m just using Erick, all this time. For God’s sakes. After me and Jacob’s break-up, ginagamit ko lang si Erick para makuha ko ulit siya. Nang mahuli kami ni Jacob, siguro ‘yon ‘yung araw na naghahalikan kami ni Erick after we take the E— ecstacy. I wasn’t aware that he’ll be there and see us that time. Hindi ko rin naman akalaing gan’on ang magiging effect sa’kin ng ‘little drug’ na ‘yon. Ginamit ni Erick ang time na ‘yon para pagsamantalahan ako at ngayon, pinaiikot  ko siya to make Jacob be dead-jealous. At isa pa, sikat din si Erick dito sa campus. Magagamit ko rin siya para madagdagan ang popularity ko.

 Though, even without Erick as my alas, alam kong babalik si Jacob. He’s just like a puppy. Hahabul-habulin niya ‘ko at sa ‘kin pa rin ang bagsak niya. I know he still care for me, and I know that part of him wants me back. I’m confident.

Last ko na ‘yung pagpunta ko sa dorm nila ni Tristan, to say my sorry. And I swear that’d be my last. Apologizing isn’t my thing. I get what I want, and if I want Jacob back, that would be so easy. Hindi na ‘ko ‘yung babaeng desperadang gawin ang lahat basta’t masiguro ko lang na walang makakalapit kay Jacob. Iniisip ko pa lang ang pinaggagawa ko dati—gross. As in. I won’t be that girl ever again. Inilibing ko na siya.

I won’t be the girl he’s expecting to see outside his door, crying and pleases him to forgive me. At isa pa, pinagmukha niya ‘kong tanga nung night summer party na ‘yon.

                       

           

            “Girl, nakapili ka na ba ng outfit sa comeback party ni Troy-Z?” Amanda asked, with her super-flirty tone.

            Ah, I remember. Troy-Z. As in Troy Zevie. Isa siya sa mga mayayamang estudyante sa campus namin. He’s like a super millionaire with a big mansion as his room. His parents have a business abroad and he’s the only son. The inheritor of all the gold in his family. He transferred to Boston, last year at ngayon, babalik siya to have a visiting-vacation. Last week pa usap-usapan ang pagbalik niya, kahit nga sa social sites.

Every girl wants him. Badly and deadly. Halos mga babae na nga ang nanliligaw sa kanya. Naging classmates kami in our second year in high school, but I couldn’t say or expect that he could recognize me. It’s been years and people forgets. But still, I want to go to his party. Hindi dapat ako maging absent doon.

            I shot her a look and shook my head. “How about you?”

            “Pupunta kami mamaya sa mall ni Amanda to buy our dresses. Would you like to come?”

            Shit. I still don’t have my allowance yet. Tumingin sa ‘kin si Erick habang naghihintay rin ng sagot ko. “I can’t go,” I answered, pity-toned.

            “Why?” both of them exclaimed. Then Erick says, “If money’s the problem, forget it. You go with them.” Then he get his wallet from his pocket and handed me his credit card. I know he’d do this. I could feel Amanda and Karylle’s jealousy for me—that Erick’s my boyfriend. Good thing, may gamit pa pala si Erick bukod sa pagpapaikot ko sa kanya.

 I was about to open my mouth to say my thank you to Erick when I sighted Jacob’s car. Inayos ko ang upo ko, mas lumapit kay Erick and make sure na makikita niya ‘ko—I mean, kami. As soon as I see him get out of his car, I pulled Erick to me and kissed him hard. Oh, thank you Erick for this credit card. And that’s the time I see he’s not alone. He’s with that summer night party girl that he kissed. Wait, what’s her name again? It took me seconds to remember it.

            Bella Garcia. That’s her name. Sinundan ko sila ng tingin pagkatapos kong halikan si Erick. I felt something that pinches my heart, and I tried to ignore it. But I can’t. I couldn’t. Hindi siya tumingin sa direksyon ko. He didn’t see me and Erick kissed. He’s busy with his… new girlfriend.
