Finding a nursing job is a difficult thing to do. It's also different from a regular job hunt. I don't know how it's different but it honestly just feels different to me. Maybe it because it's a higher level of work that is needed or maybe you have to actually make sure you can do the things they ask you to do. You have to be able to have the qualities that the boss wants, you have to have CPR lessons and license before being hired, you have to be able to do many things at once, etc. You'll never understand until you do it and start looking.
Im a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and I'm the one that follows orders from the main charge nurse (Incase you guys didn't know).
The reason why I got into this type of work isn't just for the money and the benefits I can get from it, it's because I live to help older people and even younger people to get better or just make their life easier on them. I started liking this feeling when I was younger and my grandmother was alive. I would help her in the morning, get her dressed, have her the pills she had to take, and make sure she ate. I helped her throughout the day and it was such a wonderful feeling that I enjoyed. I enjoyed it because it gave me hope and joy that her life was and will be easier on herself. She wouldn't have to do things alone. She wouldn't be by herself so when she needed help, I was there for her. I was about 10 when I decided I wanted to go into the medical field and become a CNA. I am 18 now and I still have that dream and I am a CNA.
This job is a lot of hard work. Everyday, you're taking care of about 1-15 residents at once. You have to make sure you get to every one of those residents without making them feel neglected. You do heavy lifting, you deal with harassment from coworkers or even the residents. You're technically the charge nurses dog. They tell you what to do and you go and do it. You satisfy their needs and their job. But they are the ones that will teach you new things. The ones that will have your backs. The ones that will push you until you get it. They want to see you succeed. Not fail.
You have to put in the hard work to fully succeed and if you do that, you should be fine.
I'm a certified nursing assistant and I love what I do. I will be continuing my education in the medical field as a medical school after my 2 years at my community college is done. I'm starting easy and making my way to the top.
I will be ready for my future and I will be set. I'll be fine.
